Frasier (2023)
Typical CBS Drivel
The original series is perhaps my favorite sitcom of all time. Witty, well acted, well written and just all around smart humor. There was an almost instant endearment to the cast in season one.
I know that you cannot go back and re-create lightning in a bottle, so I have given this series the benefit of the doubt and approach it with an open mind. However, I just cannot get past the fact that the series appears to be written by associated with the Big Bang theory. Name one miners and back storytelling Hampstead over active just remind me of what a terrible show theory is character Frazier pushed down sewer hole. Please, paramount, get some better riders that understand Frazier is in higher additional coaching actors to work with the ensemble.
Star Trek: Picard: No Win Scenario (2023)
Finally! A fantastic episode!
Finally! A near perfect episode....simply because Raffi wasn't in it!
With enough nods to The Next Generation predicaments where is seems the gang can't get out of a sticky situation, this episode provides enough nostalgia to make me smile and new angles to keep me interested and hungry for more (providing Raffi isn't frequent). It's so good to be provided with small puzzle pieces of beloved characters lives (Riker and his laments) as well as how the holodeck works when all hope seems lost. Frakes directs another one out of the park and makes clear his love for not just the characters, but the fans as well.
Star Trek: Picard: The Next Generation (2023)
Would have been an 8, but...
This episode would have easily scored an 8, but there was one major flaw. Actually, it's a flaw in every episode of Star Trek Picard...it's the character (and actress playing) Raffi. The character is not just dull, but painstakingly so. Every scene with Raffi brings down the believability that Picard would actually tolerate her. Flawed? Sure, but annoyingly so. It's like Wesley was reincarnated as this character. And then there's the portrayal of this character. Stilted and yet overly dramatic. It's like first year undergraduate acting school. How this character hasn't evolved with so many writers is a mystery.
Star Trek: Picard: Farewell (2022)
Utter Rubbish...and that's just the writers
How is it possible to write such garbage with about a beloved character? Just watch this series and you'll see it done in masterclass fashion.
And when a less than beloved character returns I'm reminded that his sanctimonious smugness is still preferable to the character of Raffi (along with the actress that portrays her).
Star Trek: Picard: Watcher (2022)
Agonizing
What's more agonizing? Watching how new iterations of Star Trek (Picard and Discovery, though Discovery is much worse) pander to the lowest common denominator of wokeness or reading reviews from obtuse lefties who still live in their parents basements though resent them at the same time? They're both shallow. The Orville has more heart and watch ability than this.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Bad writing and even worse characters
But the characters aren't as bad as in Discovery (I'll give them that). Save for one...the ONE in every series. Raffi, Adira, Wesley, and heck, let's cross over to Jar-Jar. There's absolutely nothing compelling about Raffi. Nothing. In fact, she's anti-compelling. The writing and casting of this character couldn't have been worse (wait, Abrahms would have been worse. Thanks STD).
Star Trek: Discovery: The Galactic Barrier (2022)
Still more woke drivel...
More of the same. Feelings being shared, woke relationships and terrible acting (save for Saru).
I never thought I see a character (and actor/ress) who could supplant Jar-Jar as the most cring-worthy presence on screen, but leave it to Adira. Just so very bad.
Star Trek: Discovery: ...But to Connect (2021)
More speeches
Speeches, speeches and more speeches. It wasn't enough that most actors must wax poetic with stupid grins on their faces, but now the computer is in on the action?
But worse are the two kids. So annoyingly out of place in the series and utterly unlikeable they make Wesley crusher appear endearing. Stop with the woke madness.
Star Trek: Discovery: Stormy Weather (2021)
More the same sappy drivel
If Star Trek and This Is Us had a baby, it would be discovery. I was hopeful Frakes could inject some semblance of normalcy into this episode, but when the writing is this bad there's really little hope.
Star Trek: Discovery: All Is Possible (2021)
Truth Deniers
This episode and season are basically just a This Is Us in space. I often wonder if the actors, upon seeing the script for the first time, roll their eyes at the number of speeches each will have to make? I shudder at thinking how many make the cutting room floor. So very bad.
And the Truth Deniers who hide behind their 10 star reviews by calling honest, critical reviews haters, or whateverphobes, are only showing their true colors. Gray and Adira are the Jar Jars of Discovery.
Star Trek: Discovery: Anomaly (2021)
Woke garbage
Yes, yes, it's clear the writing is terrible (if I hear one more speech....), but the woke garbage will destroy this series. Aiden and Gray are the Jar-Jar of this series. Completely unnecessary.
Star Trek: Discovery: That Hope Is You, Part 2 (2021)
True Science Fiction
I've come to realize how much science fiction is in this series. Burnham, despite her size, has defeated practically every male (can I call them male in this show? Is it not woke enough?). How is that even possible? And the longest combat sequences are against another female?
And I thought Voyager was a Ling way from home. Please get back to what has made Star Trek good.
Star Trek: Discovery: Terra Firma, Part 2 (2020)
Voyager had more talent than this
Writers, you don't get to have a drinking farewell when you haven't fully developed characters....because it's only empty when you do...and we see right through it.
And geez, whoever cast Blu clearly did it as an act of wokeness (in addition to all the other moments in this series) because Blu is a terrible actor. So painful to watch.
