Doona! (2023)
Bittersweetly addictive
It's always the jealous antis who are more motivated to give negative review. Doona trended, globally rated in top 5 or above, #1 in many countries including SK and in top #10 in many countries for over a month for a reason. Many will agree, Doona is strangely addictive, mainly because of the intense chemistry between Doona and Won Jun and the not obvious happily ever after ending. Yang Sejong is amazing as ever...showing why he was dubbed Monster Rookie his debut year and winning best actor awards. He really convinces as an innocent boy who has pure love for Doona yet manages to not completely lose himself, which makes him even more attractive to the viewers and Doona (versus being a completely lovesick doormat). Suzy is beautiful and part of the fascination is whether she as Doona really loves Won Jun...one can't help but doubt til the end. Not sure if that's good or not good enough acting on Suzy's part? She's definitely Doona tho.

Drama for mature minded...
I don't mean this drama is for older audiences but for those of us, whether young or old, who have patience and lived life. I found the pace and development of the main romance to be extremely comfortable...like sitting down to read a good book on a cold or rainy day. Maybe the story resonated with me because I find myself moving into the suburbs after living in huge cosmopolitan cities for my youth but this drama is mostly relaxing and healing. There is major angst with the tragic story of the FL's mom and aunt and warm comedy provided by the tiny village book club members. This is slow paced but meaningful drama about love, family and friendship.
Pachinko: Chapter Seven (2022)
Great episode of Great Kanto Earthquake
Well done and acted episode revealing the tragedy of the Great Kanto Earthquake and the backstory of Hansu. My only complaint was that I wish the episode was longer or even explored further over 2 episodes. Ironic that Caucasian Americans were treated with more esteem than the Japanese while Koreans were so horribly oppressed.
Pachinko (2022)
Lives up to all the hype
As so many reviewers have proclaimed, Pachinko is tv at its best! This story following the trials, tribulations & triumphs of a pregnant Korean girl forced by circumstances to immigrate to oppressive Japan in early 20th century juxtaposes beautifully with her grandson's experiences as an up and coming banker in Japan in 1980s. Wonderfully emotional, compelling & educational series. You won't regret watching!
The King: Youngwonui Gunjoo (2020)
TKEM made me fall in love
With Lee Minho since first noticing him in 2010 with Boys Over Flowers. Researching him got me into over 10 years of being SHINee fan but I didn't watch another drama of LMH. Then I recently watched TKEM. I couldn't stop watching and finished within 2 days. Who doesn't love a fairy tale...add a fantasy element and the perfect King plus bodyguard and it's magic. Now I'm watching every drama and movie the inimitable LMH has been casted and all are so great. He's so magnetic. Can't wait til Pachinko and more dramas with Hallyu King Lee Minho.
