Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Not an honest review
Yet to watch the movie. So this is a review for MCU in general and not the movie. I think comic book multiverse is different from live action multiverse and after delivering the best Marvel movie ever in "no way home" MCU is now headed to a downward spiral due to too many characters (they ended up messing Kingpin of all characters, the most intimidating villain MCU gave us) and not many of them being nearly as charming as the original Avengers of MCU. And the stories will get too convoluted probably. Remains to be seen but I think Spiderman was it, not much to be expected. Look at doctor strange, Ms Marvel, and probably now thor. Only 1 I have hope for is guardians of the galaxy, I have a strong hunch that quantummania is going to bomb despite antman being my favourite character of MCU. Introduction of X-Men won't bide well for MCU spiritually, though they will earn tons.
Superman & Lois: Truth and Consequences (2022)
Most enjoyable episode of the season
Would have rated 10 but 3 parts should have been better
1jonathan and Jordan are maturing but that took several steps backward. Jonathan's priorities seem all over the place when so much is at stake. 2 Jordan has one scene with Sarah and that scene is so terribly placed with so cringeworthy timing of Jordan. Scene could easily have been at the spot where lois is talking to Sarah. However their decision may be attributed to them still being teenagers. 3. However Clark's timing has no excuse in the final scene. He could have waited for Lana's day to be over and the scene would carry so much more meaning.
All this not withstanding however, story and action in this episode were very good and has increased my hopes of this season regaining season 1 glory.
Barun Rai and the House on the Cliff (2021)
Not going to watch
One simple reason not to watch this movie despite high rating: someone may spell "awesome" as "ossum". Some other people may follow suit. But if everyone who is giving a high rating is spelling it the exact same wrong way, it tells you that something is fishy.
Drishyam 2 (2021)
Chilling, gripping, outdoes the first
Yes it is significantly slower than first with regards to georgekutty storyline but the police investigation into the crime committed in first movie keeps you hooked. And is full of twists. And the slow georgekutty arc really pays off in an epic finale. And all ends seem cleanly tied up. But who knows, twelve years later the berieved mother may get another fit of vengeance and give another shot at the "kutty" family. If not, still a very very satisfying end to an incredible story with outstanding direction and a heart pouring acting.
The Batman: Strange New World (2006)
Brilliant
This one episode is a chilling experience in an otherwise substandard batman show. Better than moist of what we get to see today. Very few episodes of even Batman the animated series could level up to this. Menacing doctor strange is the villain Batman deserves.
Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One (2021)
Best story for a Batman movie in recent years
This is a creepy film noir movie with great sound editing and direction. Very unpredictable except if someone has already read the comics, which I, luckily, haven't. Although the end doesn't leave much of suspense remaining, I still hope I am wrong about what's going on. Fingers crossed for a satisfying end.
The best thing about this movie is that Batman is just a good fighter with good intentions but not much of a detective yet, still learning the tactics, which serves the story well. Animation reminds of batman the animated series and the story itself looks kind of a prequel to it.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Overrated? yes! Long? All know well! Good? You bet it is
Some are calling it boring, some say marginally better than theatrical version, some say very good and far beyond the level of previous one and some say best superhero movie ever. Well this movie is no comparison for infinity war or civil war but it is definitely better than most other superhero movies of the last decade.
Story wise lots of scenes were from previous version which made a few parts of the first half somewhat boring. But then, previous one was absolutely boring. There is a lot of heart in this movie and sone of the most important scenes like Superman's resurrection or the final battle and the way the story ends is all done exceptionally well. I mean I heard what the story was going to end like because the original intended arc was what was later used in justice league dark apocalypse war. But still i got goosebumps at some of the scenes.
Previous movie was all about resurrecting superman although his name was not mentioned till the idea was conceived by batman. But in this movie, they know from the first moment they need more muscle than they have. And yet in theatrical version, it seemed impossible for justice league to defeat Steppenwolf without superman while in this one, even without superman they have a plan, just turns out his help is needed as they thought they would. And superman actually gets a part more than the short fight scene with no breathtaking moment.
And the scene where the idea of resurrecting superman is conceived, it is probably the best scene of DCEU, i mean it. Beautifully done. So is the actual resurrection scene.
There is a lot of heart in cyborgs story and it is very well done although the concept is obviously a ctrl+c & ctrl+v of man of Steel. But his character is dealt with respect and his standalone scenes are beautifully done. Barry and flash both get more time and his character is drawn in somewhat details although it could be better.
Overall, this felt like a justice league movie, while honestly speaking, previous movie felt like it was all about superman. Only flaw is that the story arc is open. And I hope zack snyder gets enough pressure from fans to make its sequels up until the Batman's injustice story dreams actually come to pass and that story actually completes. Also at least one movie is needed where there is no darkseid or alien supervillains, just lex and his team. Fingers crossed
