It's so sad to see a plot with so much potential being wasted like that!
Fermat's Room could have been a great movie, but the riddles pass too fast in our faces, you don't even have the time to try to solve them. The solutions go so fast that people without a good math basis with lost interest, I mean, I am a mathematician and almost gave up watching.
Character development is probably the biggest problem and the relations between them are just thrown on screen. It's weird that some of them are too dumb to solve an easy problem, but smart enough to get the villain's plan at the end in a second (by the way, the villain is kinda obvious).
