This was the best-written and acted episode of the series. From Swearengen's confrontations with the Chinese to Farnum's breakdown at the door to the simple act of placing a hand on a counter between Trixie and Sol (great moment), to the conversation about the bird and boots between Dority and Johnny...this is one of the all-time best series...amazing... When Swearengen walks out onto the balcony while the eulogy is being read...the direction is nearly flawless. Bullock's reaction as he watches Martha run up to and stumble getting to the house... So many moments in an amazingly, perfectly-contained episode of HBO's best.
