A Ton of Fun
27 April 2024
Boy Kills World is a thrill ride from start to end. It's action-packed, funny, tongue in cheek, and even has some twists along the way. The cast absolutely killed it (no pun intended). The world building and setting were subtle but engaging. There is a lot of lore in the background, and for the most part the movie doesn't hit you over the head with it. You are dropped into a world that is lived in, but not in a way that is unapproachable. The characters are so distinct and are a lot of fun. Some of the costume designs were also pretty brilliant. This movie isn't for everyone, though, as it's pretty gory and has an odd sense of humor. That said, I loved it. Highly recommended.

Heathers meets Tim Burton
15 February 2024
Overall a dark and funny movie that draws serious inspiration from Heathers and Tim Burton movies. While a dark comedy, it is lighthearted enough that it's a fun watch. It strays away from politics and just tries to be what it is--a campy movie with an 80s setting and some whacky characters. 9/10 seems high, but I'm rating it in relation to the kind of movie it is. It's not a cinematic masterpiece and you won't get David Fincher or Martin Scorsase vibes, but if you are looking to have a few laughs, eat some popcorn, turn off your brain, and enjoy a couple hours of your life, this may be the right movie for you.

Slow, dumb, and baffling
28 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Wow. It's so bad I don't know where to start.

First, as every other review that wasn't a 10/10 (for some reason) mentioned, the characters are just as dumb as they are unlikeable. It's insane how many bad decisions they make. Whether it's trying to cover up the psycho boyfriend being stabbed (in self defense) or the multiple times they didn't go for the guns, these characters seem destined to die a horrible death.

Second, and this just bugs me, but continuity error. The cop has a revolver when he goes outside, comes inside with a pistol, then has a revolver when the girls are tied up. Why?

It doesn't really explain why the people were murdered in the beginning that I recall. Or why some moron took a photo and some other moron decided to develop it. Maybe I tuned out or something, so I'll sort of let that slide.

How are you going to have a home invasion murder with the invasion being in the last 20 mins? And then the invaders were taken out like yesterday's garbage. Weak villains.

Finally, I don't know why people are saying it's really bloody or something. It's not. There is only like two scenes that are even slightly "gorey". The rest is gunshots and stabs.

The whole movie just kind of baffles me. It's like it was written by an AI that was trained on a bunch of poorly made slashers and tried its best to scramble something together. If this was actually written by a human being, I question their decision making skills.

Poorly written, poorly made.

Was really let down
23 April 2023
I waited for nearly 2 years for this movie and was very excited going in. The intro was fantastic, so I had high hopes. Then the first half of the movie was a slog. I was getting exhausted by it.

The second half was pretty good, but I was checked out at that point. The Mom and Aunt were great, but the younger actors weren't very believable. The Mom was so good, though, that she basically saved the movie.

The CGI was obvious and the movie could have relied on more practical effects. I loved the first 4 entries in the franchise, and this one doesn't live up to them.

Side note: there are quite a few political statements that grinded my gears as well. May or may not annoy you.

How did this get such high ratings?

Did I watch the same movie as everyone else? Cliche, infuriating at times, often dull and bloated for such a short movie. The kid makes some dumb decisions. The pinocchio metaphor doesn't make sense, he doesn't stay a donkey. Overall not worth the price of a ticket.

Great First Outing for Daily Wire
17 January 2021
Good movie overall. Not award winning, but the action was good, the commentary wasn't super heavy handed and there were some great scenes with emotional depth. The main character is a badass, and the actress is able to portray a good range of emotions throughout the film.

Expect this movie to get review bombed by critics. It is produced by a conservative website. Watch it and see for yourself.
