69: Funny and Entertaining.
6 February 2005
I saw 69 at the International Filmfestival Rotterdam and I was very curious how this film would be. The story is about a boy named Ken, who want's to organize a film- and music festival to impress the prettiest girl in school. The film contains a lot of funny and beautiful moments. The scene where Ken first really meat his girl of his dreams is very beautiful. She walks through a school passage, the floor is full with rose leaves and they also fall out of the air. The film contains a lot of this kind of dreams that Ken has. Also the crazy gymnastics teacher is very funny. He's hitting and kicking Ken all the time, which makes you laugh all the time.

69 was the best film I saw in Rotterdam and I'd like to see the other films of Lee Sang-il also.

Martin Koolhoven's Suzy Q.: One of the best Dutch films ever made.
2 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Director Martin Koolhoven graduated in 1996 from the Dutch Filmacademy and three years later he made one of his best films; Suzy Q.

It's a story about Suzy (wonderfull acting of Carice van Houten) and her weird family. Her father is a dirty man who can't get his hands of Suzy, her brother Zwier is very depressed and her other Brother Palmer, doesn't want to hang out with Suzy. Suzy's mother is a little bit naive about this situation and she doesn't really know what to do about it. The whole story is situated in a weekend and after this weekend nothing is going to be the same.

Director Martin Koolhoven has made with Suzy Q. one of the best Dutch films ever.
