Doctor Who: The Star Beast (2023)

Take the money away
25 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Great episode but too flashy, I miss the monsters being made with a frying pan and a post it note.

Biggest complaint seemed to wrap up far too neatly, took away Donna's sacrifice a little too much.

I am far from an 'allie' but the trans thing was done 'okay' mentioned one or two times too many, the first few was fine, was done in a. Respectful, then joking way. Then it just carried on but better than other shows.

Just keep Catherine and David, the new pair have got big shoes to fill. I hope they bounce off each other half as well and it will be fine.

But nobody will like the new one until he's left.

It's awful
31 January 2023
I watched it because I thought it couldn't possibly be that bad, I was wrong.

If it was a single episode it probably could have got away with it being mediocre, but I cannot remember anything of note happening. It was bad jokes, poking fun at people whilst not being and not particularly great voice acting. The animation was okay.

There's no shock value like south park or family guy to even begin to try and make the jokes funny. It's just bad.

If I had written, produced or directed any of the episodes I would be looking at legal advice to have it destroyed from human history.

It is honestly the worst thing I have ever had the mispleasure to watch.

Not a bad episode
21 November 2022
No spoilers here!

It wasn't a bad episode or a bad ending. But it felt very forced and rushed in place.

There were a few standout moments but on the whole it felt much more like a pilot to all the other series coming out.

The biggest issue I have is the way they worked the 'new' series into reason, it very much felt like they forgot to do it and had 5 minutes left to make something up quick.

It was about time the series had finished, it's best days were behind it and the cast far too big.

It may be better on a rewatch, but for now it's not a bad ending but certainly not a great one.

Hopefully the the new series will be better and expand upon it in flashbacks or something.

It's what you'd expect
19 August 2022
Solid film, reasonable plot, Sama characters as always.

Only one area I didn't like, the CG art style.

Nothing more than a personal preference.

Other than that just another good Dragon Ball film.

An attempt of an open end
4 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It wasn't a bad episode but it felt as though the series going forward is in doubt.

A pretty good opened ended episode, closed a few loose threads.

Hopefully it will come back because it's exactly the sci-fi series the world is missing.

It's okay, but quickly becoming another marvel formula
9 July 2022
Same time as Ragnarok and the same jokes. Not a bad movie but not as good as Ragnarok. Everything just seemed to be lacking something, the film seemed a bit empty.

Stupid episode
23 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Stupid episode you'll never go out of your way to watch again, but just another proper typical Star Trek filler episode. There's been a lot of much worse new Trek episodes compared to this one.

A good portion of the episode was wasted
22 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Seem to hit its peak far too soon.

Why can't Reva just stay dead? Not a particularly likable character and not a particularly good one either.

Two big nit picky complaints - 1 - where does the Star Destroyer go?

2 - why does the little shuttle suddenly have hyperdrive?

Otherwise, a perfect reflection of the series. Brilliant bits splattered throughout but with a lot of drab in between. An okay end to an okay series.

A bit silly, a bit long winded

A little bit silly, a little bit long winded.

But it's just one of those silly fun Trek episodes, you probably won't remember it but when you rewatch it you'll be glad you did.

It's good
19 May 2022
A good proper trek episode. Number 1 is good, Pike and Spock. I like the chief engineer and nurse chapel, as well as the chief medical office. The rest I can take or leave. Hopefully they will grow on me during the rest of the series but I'm just not that fussed.

No whispering or crying
12 May 2022
No whispering or crying. Just fun star trek episode, aliens, space battler and jokes. But frankly this series would be a car crash without Anson Mount, he really does make the series. The perfect lead for this series. One thing I do not really like is the sets, everything just seems a little bit too shiny.

A nice neat little bow
5 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A nice neat little bow the wrap up the season. A boring bow but a bow all the same. No where near enough Q, the best parts of the season was the interaction between Q and Picard. Rios was probably the stand out character who I would have liked to see in his own series as Captain of the Stargazer. Its alright, but I'm glad I didn't pay for the subscription service to watch it.

I'm not sure what this was
5 May 2022
There can be absolutely no spoilers in this episode as it appears to be nothing but complete filler. The single worst episode so far and will take some beating. It's pretty clear they ran out of money and forgot the main character of the show should be in it.

Meh
24 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Could have been boiled down to a 20 minute episode and still feel stressed out. Seven can drive apparently (could have easily been explained by a quick reference to Tom Paris or skill known by the Borg). Just seemed to have been a pretty rushed episode script wise. The Borg queen seems a bit whiny. The most interesting part was with Q. I'm not sure why they decided to rewrite the character of guinan and ignore know history. I just have a horrible feeling this is going to turn into another star trek disco series. Only redeeming factors seem to be Seven, Picard and Q.

Good enough
24 March 2022
Engaging and good enough to give the next few episodes a chance. Solid visuals, acting was fine, script was fine. The first episode is always a bit iffy trying to introduce characters, setting, story and overall background. Could have been a lot worse.

Its like a teenagers fan fic
17 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Generic boring discovery episode. Slow, boring, whispering, feelings, crying. They actually had a new, interesting and different alien that's appeared but it ignores them, ties everything up into one neat little bow. Black man dies, magic happens he's back. Like generic star trek but if he died there would have an actual meaningful loss. It's such a poor series with poor writers, there is always such potential but it's continuously ignored.

Completely pointless episode. Whispering, blah, blah boring. Literally no point to this series. Space Jesus will save everybody, work everything out and still have time for a hair change.

Burnham cries and saves everything
23 December 2021
Rather than be a monster of the week format, this series seems to be more of a 'what will Burnham cry at and then subsequently fix' of the week format. It's like something a bunch of high schoolers would make as fan fiction. The single worst Star Trek series and probably always will be.

Burnham whispers and cries
19 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you removed Burnham from this episode it wouldn't be a bad star trek episode. Put Saru there or just anybody else but Mary Sue, it would be fine. But can it be for a while that she doesn't some how magically solve the problem all by herself, plus a bit of crying and whispering. How this series has matched Enterprise in the number of seasons I will never know. I don't think this series will ever be looked back upon fondly or for the rewatch value. Take Burnham out and it might just have a shot with a few people.

13 December 2021
Do you like a bad story with bad acting?

Well this is for you, don't bother. It's just awful.

There is nothing good about this at all, I was glad when it was over and I'll be glad where ST:D is cancelled.

Michael saves the day again and cries
25 November 2021
It's almost as though there is a standard script for each episode and season.

One big bad, slowly introduced.

Each week a new problem that Michael fixes and then cries.

It's like it's been written by a child who is particularly bad at writing science fiction and anything good.

Think of the walking dead but then don't
8 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Best way to describe it, erm somebody has given a bunch of edgy 13 yos a guide on the story then they are required to write the script, word for word.

The acting is awful, the script is awful.

Nothing worthwhile happens.

Spoiler:

CRM are bad and they're most likely the helicopters flying about.

Make it live action
23 January 2021
Make the last 4 episodes live action and you'll have the greatest star wars film, if not one of the greatest films ever made. Just the haunting music played throughout makes it better than most, it conveys the mood perfectly and the final scene perfectly wraps up the clone wars

You could compress the entire season into a 200 minute film
8 January 2021
I am glad the season is over, the entire season just seems to be filler episodes. The majority of this episode was filler with a few flashy action scenes.

This episode just confirms that the series is not Star Trek: Discovery but The Michael Burnham show. The only possibility that the burn wasn't caused by Michael was that it was a something so random and Michael was the one, yet again, to save the day. There was so many opportunities for Tilly or Saru to actually to do something worthwhile this episode, but it reverts back to its only method.

The episode is certainly watchable, but once watched you soon realise that all the budget has been spent on fancy CGI and not on the writing side of things.

Plus the new uniforms look like bad cosplay.
