The main character in this movie's name is Deni Ruso. The main character in The Karate Kid is named Daniel LaRusso. The influence is upfront and not at all hidden, including training techniques the main character doesn't recognize as such until later and several other sorry beats. Whether you feel it is an homage or a rip off may well depends on how familiar you are with the original. Still, Danji Zoni as Deni is game enough, and the Mr Miyagi role is played quite well by Yayan Ruhian (The Raid/John Wick 3), given that this is on Netflix in the US, you can't argue with the price, and the cheeky setup for a sequel did make me smile in spite of myself.
