Resident Alien (2021)
Have some TV quality perspective.
The bad reviews on here are all so terribly written and do not properly express the issues with this show.
My thoughts:
If you enjoy the show, good for you. I like plenty of things others do not like, and I seem to be in the minority here. All I'm asking is for fans of this show to have a little quality perspective.
How can there be this be a 10/10 show. Are we watching the same thing? For this show? Have you ever seen an actual quality show? (Sucession, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Ozark, Cobra Kai, The Office, Silicon Valley, Master of None). To name a few, and NONE of those shows are 10/10 and they are 500% better and more worth your time than this show.
I can even get on board with a lot of weird fun and campy shows, like Cobra Kai. But this, this just ain't it. There are some good things in this show, but the bad outweighs it heavily.
People calling it "cringe" comedy, I honestly think that's unintentional, I think its meant to be literally funny. Which to me just makes it uncomfortable. Especially with the Sheriff character, unfunny and unbearable. No self awareness is in this show to contrast the cringe, similar to Jim in the office, everyone just goes along with weird asinine things.
The "small" town plot is just overused and dumb at this point. Like I know you kinda have to turn off your brain for this show, (he's an alien) but like the simple plot devices make no sense.
I genuinely do not understand the super high reviews. Sure enjoy the show, have at it. But like, have perspective to the Era of TV we are in. There is PLENTY better than this show in basic quality of cinematography, writing, acting, comedy, etc. It DEFINITELY, does not deserve a 9 or 10 on IMDB.
This show maybe deserves a 7 out of 10 since it obviously has caught the attention of so many people who do enjoy it. Meaning the show does have its place.
Just have some perspective of quality, and rate accordingly. Even if you enjoy the show, consider the factors inwhich makes the show good. (Writing, Acting, Cinematography, Original Plot Ideas, New Comedy)
Does this show really hit any of those markers? Not like this is a totally new concept, even seen the movie Paul?
Cherry (2021)
I do not understand this movies rating.
This movie, its very unique and weird, but the acting is amazing. It's dark and sad, but the story keeps you hooked. Definitely under rated, worth a watch.
American Gods: Conscience of the King (2021)
Am I just dumb?
What was the point of the last 3 episodes / Wednesdays storyline primarily if Demeter just disappears at the end of this episode? Like 3 episodes spent trying to recruit her for her to just disappear?
I would understand how snigificant it would be if we grew too know the character but she barely had a role so the moment was unempactful.
Like I just sat confused like, why did I waste 3 hours watching these episodes for something that felt unimpactful.
