Kelce (2023)
One of the best sports films I've ever seen!
This is hands down one of, if not the best, sports films I have ever seen. The insane behind the scene's look into Jason Kelce's life as an all-pro NFL center, father and husband, brother, son, and teammate is unrivaled in "Kelce." A glimpse into life as one of the best centers in NFL history is a true rollar coaster of emotion. I laughed out loud, felt true empathy for complete strangers, and wiped tears from my eyes throughout the film. Very few films can carry such a heavy emotional burden on the viewer. If you want to know what a professional athlete playing at the highest level goes through during the biggest of seasons, look no further than Kelce! I promise you will not regret it!
Nothing But Trouble (1991)
A Super Weird Dark Comedy!
It's funny the things you remember from your childhood! Riding bikes with friends, "sleepovers" in middle school, your first kiss that you're not even 100% sure was performed correctly, and Dan Aykroyd as a creepy, sadistic judge that kills people... wait, what?! Yeah, you read that right, and after watching "Nothing But Trouble" again as an adult I unfortunately remembered that accurately as well! For whatever reason, this movie stuck with me from my childhood, and honestly as deeply and intensely as some of my favorite memories. The problem with that being it wasn't necessarily a happy memory like the rest.
I also don't remember it actually scaring me either like "Child's Play" did, but I primarily have my grandfather to thank for making that experience a tad-bit more "realistic" than it should have been for any kindergarten aged child. I'll just say this: the day after I "met" Chucky for the first time on screen, I was met by my grandfather's "doctored up" My Buddy doll at the back door after school. So ornery! (That's okay, because I still love and miss you dearly, papa!) Anyway, back to the movie review.
"Nothing But Trouble" is full of dark humor at every turn. From the wonderful prosthetic face Dan Aykroyd wears as The Judge, to his "disappearing" machine called The Bonestripper complete with bullseye target. This movie is certainly not for small children but you have an open mind going into this one I promise you it will certainly stick with you for a while. Chevy Chase, Demi Moore, John Candy, and Dan Aykroyd all do a fantastic job of acting their respective parts. Aykroyd himself may have done a bit too good of a job if you ask me (and especially the child within me!).
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995)
Why So Many Bad Reviews?
This movie is EXACTLY what made Carrey so famous, his silly, goofy faces and insane physical comedy. I'm not trying to be rude, everyone is most certainly entitled to their opinion. However, this movie is Carrey at his ABSOLUTE finest, doing exactly what made him famous to begin with. Yes, it's stupid and completely insane raunchy comedy. If you can watch this entire movie, honestly, and not laugh at all then I've lost all hope in humankind. Relax people. Watch this movie for what it is. Silly, stupid fun. I laugh as hard at 34 acting this movie as I did at nine when it came out. If that makes me strange, "stupid," or different then so be it!
