best movie on race relations ever!
16 April 2012
We finally got to watch this movie, after missing it for the box office opening night. Excellent movie! I cannot believe it was done in 28 days on a $200,000 budget....just goes to show you can produce quality film without spending millions! Schools show lots of fluff, idiotic and useless movies all the time. This movie should be required viewing at every middle school and high school...not for the subdued religious tones, but for the race relations for all of us. The shot in the end was an amazing message alone. I highly recommend it for all ages. My own sons, 11 and 14 watched it with us tonight and I intend to let them watch it as many times as they want to. This one is a good one to let all the messages of the movie sink into their hearts!

Great family movie!
29 April 2010
We were very glad to have dvr'ed this movie and watched it with the kids! It was fun to look up more details about the real story and investigate where in Montana it was filmed! The videography was gorgeous, showing some of the very best of Montana and very much why we live here! I hope someone picks this up in the future and produces the planned sequels (keeping them set and produced in Montana where the story belongs!).

I've ordered a copy for our local library circulation, just because it's a clean family movie with a Montana theme and location. I'll be glad to recommend it to people looking for a good family night movie.

Real love over comes almost any diversity.

We just got back from taking our kids to see this excellent movie! There was so many good messages in this movie where do you start? First of all, as Christian, I'm thrilled with a current movie that is positive about Christians in general, but specifically by the mom in this story who really lived her Christianity rather than preaching it and stuffing it down everyone's throat!

Makes me wish to go find someone lost and thrown away and try to make a difference in their lives. What a special boy, Michael, was to have enough courage to persevere and keep doing what he needed to do to understand and be successful.

I'm so glad this is a true story. What a great example to my own kids to be accepting and not judgmental of those around them that are different and need to be loved just because, not for any special reason!

Don't waste your $$ on it!
19 November 2009
I just got home from the theater with my family. We went to "Where the Wild Things Are" and we strongly advise AGAINST wasting your money to go see it. Two thumbs down for sure. The creatures are creative but the constant barrage of wrong messages from excusing domestic and friend violence to placating rotten children to teachers are idiots to ignoring signs of depression in young children and much more. I had planned to take my youngest's friends there with him for a birthday party but it didn't get here in time so thankfully we had to do something else. No wonder it's rated PG -- take note, that is for a specific reason. It was very disturbing and a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!

GREAT story, very inspiring!
28 January 2007
We all loved this movie from 46 down to 7. All my boys watched with enthusiasm and interest. My middle son (9) told me, "Mom, I see now why we shouldn't mess with rockets at home!" :) They are all interested in everything to do with flying and space, so this was a perfect movie. The true story of the 4 boys about whom the story is written, is the essence of the American spirit to find a way to get where you want to and perseverance to accomplish your goals.

Another aspect that was very valuable was the example of honoring your parents when you can't necessarily believe the same and sometimes even obey them. It was a great teaching tool.

We wish there were many more movies made like this one.

beautiful scenery, overly dramatic story line :(

HORRIBLE movie.........many moments of romance but obsession ruins it.

Man wrapped up in the memory of his deceased wife (Kevin Costner), to the point his home has become a shrine, her art studio which is the morning room, has to be left perfectly as she left it and he's in a feud with her family over her art. That part of the story line ended well, with his healing of hurt and reconciliation with his in laws.

I love the budding of the new romance, but hate many things the Kevin Costner character fumbles with, such as naming his completed sailboat after the deceased wife.

Loved The Notebook, HATE this movie!

One of the Best WWII movies I've seen
1 October 2006
I would highly recommend everyone watch this and intend to have my young sons watch it as they love WWII movies and so many times I have to restrict them from watching excellent current war movies because of the flagrant language or explicit sex thrown in. This story was compelling and very well told. I'm so glad the story was preserved so close to the actual account.

I was also surprised and interested to see the contrast between good and evil on both sides of the armies. You don't see that often, usually one side is villainized and the other sainted. Another good teaching point for kids (would be GREAT for history classes in school) was how the Medic, Gould, learned through experience that the enemy was also a person and I also believe he began to believe by the end of the "story" that God was real through the life of Deacon, gently, tortuously portrayed.
