Fun Movie!
23 August 2020
I am writing a review because the reviews are what convinced me to give this movie a shot despite the horrible ratings; which I too do not understand.

Is this movie Oscar worthy? No, of course not. Does it rank highly with other horror movies? No again. But is it an enjoyable, funny, horror film perfect for a movie night with friends? Hell yeah! There is even a fun twist in it that I truly did not see coming. So just pop your popcorn, crack open a cold drink of your choice, and enjoy.

Poetry Made Into A Film
23 August 2020
This film has a beautiful way of just washing over you, leaving you feeling understood and misunderstood all at the same time. It is no surprise to me that Lili Reinhart played such a big part in this movie on and off screen. The film plays out like a book of poetry, even though it's based off an actual book.

I find I love watching Lili in anything she's in whether it's a TV teen drama, movie about strippers, or a heart-wrenching film like this one. Her calming presence on screen is unmatched. I found myself watching her whenever she was on screen, even if she wasn't the one speaking.

Back to the movie. It's a different take on the teen drama that is more self aware than most. It doesn't care that it takes it's time introducing layers to the characters and ends the way the story should, not the way you would want it to. Beautifully shot, written, and acted.

A "Fight Club" Comedy
21 August 2020
How does this dark, well-written, beautifully acted comedy seem to remind me and my friends of "Fight Club?" You'll have to watch it to find out.

This movie is a quick-witted, dark humor comedy that puts you in the story alongside the main character rather than a fly on a wall looking in. Graham Sibley gives an authentic, genuine performance that fills the entire screen throughout the entire film. My friends and I found ourselves laughing out loud at even the "throw away" commends Sibley delivered with perfect comedic timing.

I highly recommend watching this first feature film by Jeffrey Scott Collins because I am certain it will not be his last. The best is yet to come from this up and coming writer/director.
