Food Chains (2014)

*Think* about where your food comes from
16 February 2015
Immokalee, Florida is right in my backyard....I live in nearby Naples. This peaceful struggle for fair food has been a mission of the church I belong to since the 1990's. This documentary is very well done and historically accurate. I can only keep hoping and advocating for PUBLIX grocery stores to sign on to the Fair Food Agreement. I've basically quit shopping there. It would cost Publix a minuscule amount of $$ to sign on compared to the millions of dollars they make in profits. So, I will keep marching WITH the Coalition of Immokalee Workers when they peacefully demonstrate in front of Publix. A HUGE march & parade is planned for March 21, 2015 in St. Petersburg, FL.

Acting good but the rest, horrible
28 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't walked out of a theater in a VERY long time (dentist-torture scene "Is it safe?" in Marathon Man was the last time) but this movie was just SO depressing and grim, I could not take it. I told my son "Look, you watch the rest of this...I'll meet you outside after it's over." He asked me to wait a few more minutes but when I started to cry at the scene where his ex-girlfriend says she pregnant, my son said..."OK, OK, we need to get out of here; I agree with you, let's jet." We actually stayed til the brother went to NJ to fight and I KNEW that guy would not live, it was pathetic. Performances were very good (almost gave it a 1) but I did not even see the POINT of making such a film, it was excruciating and heart-breaking.

Absolutely one of the best movies ever!
9 September 2006
I saw this movie once again on a premium cable channel last night...it evokes so MANY feelings in me! Streep is spot on with her accent, the woman is amazing in her capabilities and you would think she was born and raised in Italy! And Clint Eastwood is ever so sensitive behind the camera and in front of it as another reviewer has stated. I remember seeing this movie when it first premiered and I truly almost had to CARRY my girlfriend out of the theater, she was crying so hard. (I said "Sally! The movie is OVER, we need to go! The attendants are trying to clean up for the next showing...come on!") Truly one of the best pictures ever...right up there (for me) with "The Piano."
