Overrated
22 December 2022
I was hoping for an indepth piece on Johnny Depp's life and carreer, but instead I was presented with a glorified Youtube film with nothing but some trailer material and old interviews bundled together.

There is absolutely no new material in this doc. This could have been so much better if there were new interviews with people close to Johnny, people he has worked with in the past or even Johnny himself. But alas, nothing of the sort is to be found.

The only thing original in this documentary (if even that) is the narration, which is ok at best.

Very disappointing. I was expecting and certainly hoping for much more and is definately not worth the rating it currently has.

Why the low score
10 October 2017
I just watched this show and when I looked it up on IMDb, I was shocked to see such a low score on this show. I enjoyed it very much. I was great hearing a lot of his music, there were some great remarks and the award is certainly well deserved.

So why do so many people rate this show so low? I really can't figure it out. I even googled it to see if there was any controversy surrounding the show, but couldn't find any.

There is probably not much chance, but I really hope that someone, who has given this a low score, can explain why.

Thanks in advance.

Warning: Spoilers
Although I have a great respect for the works of Martin Scorsese, this one is a complete hit and miss. Not so much in the film making, but in the story. The priests and the christians are portrayed as the wronged party, the victims of an unjust persecution. However, let's not forget what would have happened if the Japanese had allowed Christianity in their society. The church would have found a stronghold and persecuted and murdered everyone not of their faith as they have done for centuries in the rest of the world. The Japanese knew this and acted upon it. I am not saying that it was the right thing to do, but they were given the same treatment as they would have given vice versa.

Now, let me clarify, I have nothing against Christianity, but I have something against religions who won't allow a human being to believe what they want to believe. Everyone should have the right to and no one should be punished, looked down upon or persecuted for it.

And that basically includes almost all religions now and then, I am sad to say.

Why can't we all just get along and leave each other be. Is that so hard?

Sorry for the rant, but that is just my opinion.
