Season 1, Episode 9
9/10
Best episode from series 1.

For me this is the best and most enjoyable edition from series 1 of Dempsey and Makepeace.Part of the fun is taking the show out of London for once and into the English countryside.Ralph Michael makes a welcome return as Harriet's father whose Castle the precious jade had been in when stolen. There is a house full of weekend guests so there are a number of suspects the first time you see it.John Terry who played Felix Leiter in The Living Daylights Bond film a few years after this is in this edition.Brandon and Barber seem to be enjoying making this episode also.So warmly recommended this edition.

Black Tide (1958)

Good but could have been better.

I assume this was one of those B movies made then.Usually shown in a double bill in the cinemas.I couldn't really call this a murder mystery as you see who the killer is from their first murder. As often happens in this type of thing the smaller parts are more interesting than the main leads.Leslie Dwyer is interesting here in a small role and nice to see Arthur Lowe in a small part years before Dad's Army.
