I (Rhonda O'Hara Kestin) was born in Missoula Montana on January 17, 1957. At age 2, my parents moved her to Superior Montana, then at age 6 out of Superior to the country near Tarkio, MT. They lived in a religious community until I was almost 14, then moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. I graduated from both 8th grade and 12th grade there. After 1 year of no school, I returned to college, taking 1 year at North Idaho College, and transferring to Northwest Nazarene College (now University). There I met Terry Phillips, and we married December 9, 1978. We moved to Roseburg/Winston, Oregon in June 1979, had 2 sons, and remained there until 1990, where obtained both an Associate's degree in Social Science from U.C.C. and a Th.B. via correspondence from Christian International. I and our sons moved to Monmouth, Oregon for me to complete my Bachelor's degree, while Terry finished an additional college degree in Computer Science from Umpqua Community College. I graduated from Western Oregon State College in June 1991. We all moved to Newberg, Oregon for 4 years while Terry worked as a Computer Programmer before moving east to Williamsburg, Virginia to give my husband a better job and for me to obtain a Master's degree. I graduated from Regent University in Virginia Beach in May 2000 and took 1 year off of school before I transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University to work towards my Counseling license. Just before I started, my husband announced he was getting a divorce. My sons and I moved to Richmond, where I spent 1.5 years getting an advanced Certificate in Professional Counseling, and also managed to get a proper diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder, which made it impossible for me to obtain that license! Over the next 5 years, I tried to find work but could only find unskilled labor jobs. In 2008 after spending 4 months in Missouri, I received Social Security Disability on my 1st try, and was able to return back to Richmond. For 2 years I worked under AmerCorps program, tutoring disadvantaged children. In 2010, I moved back to Oregon, leaving my sons in Virginia. I spent 5 years in Portland getting some help for my disabilities, and 4 years in Pendleton where I worked for 1 year under the Foster Grandparents program, also tutoring children. In August 2019, I returned to Virginia, settling in Newport News 2 months later. Due to the Pandemic, my opportunity to keep working (FGP) was put on hold. My current focus is on serving God in secret.
