Wildcat (2021)
Well acted and believable performances
Not the typical action film that I like, but it was suspenseful and believable. Great performances ny all the cast members and and a great story of a strong willed heroine. Give it a watch and let me know what you think.
Doors (2021)
Not the typical Hollywood film, but enjoyable nonetheless!
I approached this film with an open mind and was rewarded. I liked the weird and suspenseful plot twists. The pacing was just right and I was able to watch until the end.
This film reminded me of a cross between the V/H/S film series and the Annihilation film, both of which I enjoyed. The first segment starts off with a few students in a school setting in detention or some sort of test scenario. Then all sort of weird things start to happen which questions what lies behind these inter-dimensional doors?
The second segment attempts to answer the question from the view of the knockers, people who enter them and explore. Similar to Annihilation, nobody has ever come out...
The third segment attempts to explain the why...why are the doors here? What is their collective purpose? A scientist has found a way to somehow communicate with them.
The fourth segment attempts to tie all the previous segments together. Throughout the film there is a radio broadcast reporting on the door anomalies. We, the viewers, finally get to see the live broadcast of one podcast and the interview of a "refreshed", enlightened doctor.
I enjoyed it and suggest that you give it a chance.
The Punisher (2017)
Don't sleep on this compelling story
I just binged watched season 2 and it was surprisingly good. Much better than expected and a lot better than season 1. The actors and actresses did a good job and were on their "A" games. There were some John Wick-ish scenes when people would take terminal damage and somehow live.
I found myself rooting for the Jigsaw character and his story arc midseason. The whole "forgive and forget" concept was presented and blurred with the lust for vengeance. It was fascinating how some people want to forgive and/or are able to forget tragedies in their lives. The ability to move on is such a difficult theme, but the writers and actors portray it well...however, the sins of the past often revisit the culpable despite the maturation and appearance of redemption. There are other themes at play, but that one resonated.
