Recently I've been watching some old DVDs that are leftover from a video store I used to own. Even when I don't like a movie I always watch it to the end. I'm about halfway into this one but I'm not sure I will finish it. A stupid plot, the acting isn't great and the action scenes and special effects aren't very good either. It's not a really long movie but it still is a waste of time. I liked video games when I was younger so I thought a movie about someone being trapped in a game might be interesting but it isn't. I definitely don't think anyone should waste their time watching this pile of garbage.

Wes Anderson is my third favorite director of all time, just behind Quentin Tarantino and Alfred Hitchcock. Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Moonrise Kingdom are all very high on my list of favorite movies. However, I was disappointed with "Asteroid City". The excellent cast seemed to do well with what they had to work with but I found the plot kind of confusing and not very well developed. There were only a few moments that I found entertaining with some long, boring stretches between the highlights. When this comes out on DVD I will not be adding it to my collection which currently numbers about 1.000.

I used to own a video rental store that I finally closed last year. When I was cleaning out my store I found an old box of screeners (advance copies of upcoming releases sent to stores in hopes of stirring up more sales). I usually didn't bother to stock obscure foreign movies like this because my customers wouldn't rent them. With some free time on my hands recently I've been watching some of them before I throw them away. This one is definitely good enough to keep. Numerous funny moments, a little bit of drama and action and excellent performances by the two leads make for one highly recommended film.

I love stocking up on horror movies at my local Dollar Tree throughout the year, then spending October watching as many of them as possible. From the 1st-4th I have watched nine DVD's. Two were okay and six were pretty bad, but nothing came close to the ridiculously horrible The Purging Hour. As other reviewers have mentioned, the first hour is a big bunch of nothing. Found footage of a family moving into a new house and arguing with each other does not make a good scary movie. Even when the action picks up a little in the last few minutes it isn't enough to save this disaster.
