PROPER COMEBACK!
8 October 2021
WOW! Just finished ROTF origins and I am really satisfied! After seeing parts 2 and 3 I basically lost hope of any other good installments besides the first but after part 4 came out it started to renew my interest and the tucker origin story now just did it for me! Definitely as good almost as the original.

Bootboys!

Dialogue in this film alone rates 7 stars ! Cass pennant is a well respected face and even tho the underfunded budget shows...This film does have some poignant moments and very authentic clothing and slang of the era.

Really good

This is an amazing piece of brit cop grit...You must watch the sweeney if you like classics in the vein of long good friday. This obviously is a cop show but the villains point of view is well shown in this episode, its tough as nails this show. East end gangster Frankie Kimble has plans to bust an associate out of jail during an escort and it should go off without a hitch...until some local car thieves steal main character jack regans(john thaw) car which he had valuable police surveillance photos inside of, and before long the surveillance photos wind up in the hand of Kimble who happens to be the star of the photos as well as his crew. Realizing the law is onto them Kimble and crew debate if they should call off the jailbreak, and if they do go ahead with it this could be the chance the coppers need to catch Kimble and crew red handed...could this be the opportunity the sweeney needs to put the villains behind bars!?

VERY FUN FILM!
26 February 2021
It may be the fact I grew up watching troma films and collecting toxic avenger comics as the reason I love this film. Right away we are treated to an almost 10 minute fight scene where toxie fights an army of thugs and batters them all and I personally always loved the scene!Don't forget the highlight though of toxies vtrip to Japan to reconnect w his father. I swear the special effects r great in this and you really will love it if you are a fan of troma

kind of bad
20 February 2021
So this story has the making of a great film, about two genuinely 'ard men.By that I mean prison and gang wars were childs play to these fellows,on top of I really like Leo gregory and Terry stone.Unfortunately this film lacks...substance,should I say? Nothing to really hook you in but definitely worth seeing if you are a British gangster junkie like myself.

GAUGE YOUR EXPECTATIONS
11 February 2021
Ok so being very into the ROTF series ill say what were all thinking, Rise of footsoldier is the best film on this subject of the rettendon murders. If you are informed on this subject and have seen the Essex boy films that matter(rise footsoldier, essex boys, bonded by blood) you will need to come into this w out high expectations just take it for what its worth and u should be not too distracted by the decent but not great actors, plus the shower scene w Kristen wareing!

Decent
29 January 2021
Very familiar w the lenny mclean story and this film was a decent screen version of his brutal life. I loved watching the recreation of Lenny's infamous 3 fights w roy pretty boy shaw! Fans of This is England will enjoy a very familiar face as Lenny's wife. I did however have to agree w other reviews about the facial twitches/expressions of lenny, that was overdone! That being said you will enjoy this if you are into british gangster/street level stuff.

Bean is excellent
24 September 2020
As a huge fan of brit gangster films, I can say that for a lower budget production that this film is still quite good. If u enjoyed sean bean in essex boys then this is a must see. Bean is frightening in this, from what I know about the brinks mat robbery this film is quite true to the facts. Very good job done by Larry lamb also, the character he is playing in the film was a very brutal and scary man in real life, and that's putting it lightly! SEE THIS SLICE OF BRIT GANGLAND,absolutely worth a view

TOP SERIES
21 July 2020
This whole mini series is absolute class. British gangster Frank ross is just out of the nick and cant believe the changes on his manor in the east end of london. All his criminal mates have either called it quits or went on their own endeavors over his period of incarceration. But one question lingers, who informed on him and his mates leading to them being caught red handed during the teams last robbery!? This is absolutely required viewing if u enjoy films like get carter and long good friday! Will take a couple viewing to piece every little sub plot together but totally worth it!

best since original
2 June 2020
Alright, anybody who follows brit gangster films knows the essex boys have been movie fodder in countless projects. I have seen each rotf film and first is still best.......part 2 was decent with part 3 being about the same. However, rotf 4 was such a refreshing addition to the franchise, tight and easy to follow story as well. The boys are running low on x pills and that means no punters in their clubs( people want to take x and dance!) not to mention coke dealers are moving in on their action! This leads pat (fairbrass) to engineer a bold plan to rob a british drug dealer who has transplanted to a lovely house in spain with his conniving wife. I dont want to give much away but what makes this one diff from the rest in the franchise is the emphasis on comedy more than in the previous, the banter between manookian and stone as rolfe and tucker worth the price of admission alone. DEF WORTH A RENT AT THE LEAST!!

Identity crisis
2 April 2020
One of the most infamous and controversial british films ever. The use of real east end gangsters as extras was a masterfully done touch added to the film. Originally released in late 60s it was shelved a couple years before release due to the fat cats at warner bros hating it. Main plot of the film is about a psychotic and sadistic east end gangster with a bit too much ambition disobeyes orders from his boss Harry flowers(wonderfully portrayed by johnny shannon) and knowing exactly what will happen next so to avoid his imminent fate being murdered by the flowers gang he goes on the run and ends up in the seedy notting hill area renting a room from burnt out rockstar turner(mick jagger). The film then becomes a trippy exploration of identity and gender intertwined with sex and drugs!!

Excellent
30 March 2020
This is the one of the best gangster flicks from the black and white era, on par with brighton rock. Former british serviceman goes into business w a black market racketeer who provides goods that had been rationed because of the war. Said serviceman (trevor howard) soon finds out not only rationed goods but also drugs are being supplied by his business partner. Howard openly objects to this in front of his partners gang and is told that they no longer will deal in drugs. secretly his business partner sets up a robbery where howard will be framed for the murder of a cop. Howard is jailed and must prove his innocence !!! see this asap

Classic
30 March 2020
In the arena of brit gangster films this is a must see. While the us was producing mob/gangster films fast and furious in the 70s not many of the gangster films made on other side of the pond received proper attention. Only downside of the film is Burtons dodgy attempt at south east london accent. Early 70s were an excellent time for this type of film. In a nutshell The east end of londons top gangster goes out of his comfort zone ( his area of expertise is the protection/extortion racket) to partake in a robbery of a plastic factory wages, only said robbery goes very wrong, not to mention eye witnesses to the crime. Burton goes on a campaign of blackmail of govt officials in order to keep his gang out of the police radar. MUST SEE
