Alpha Code (2020)
Something missing.......and too many questions left unanswered
I'm not sure what was going on in this movie. Yes the plot is main character Martin who is looking for his daughter Terri while hiding from secret UN agents, lead by Bowie. Martin then seeks help from Johanna and Lance, a secret Alien society who are studying all the phenomena. But there are questions not answered.
Martin just seems angry most of the movie and at times is overdone. Then Lance who has been hiding in the woods for a few years from Bowie and his high intelligent group. But how is it possible Lance has never been tracked by his ex coworker? Now let's go back to Martin - who should be in real life Milan? Or was Milan played by Lance? If Martin is portraying Milan, then this explains the expensive cars, amazing cottage, exclusive apartment/loft, his secret job we never know-what-type-of-company he works for. But Martin seems confused and lost until end of movie, when the Alien explains most of everything. Which is his memory had been erased......?
So what's confusing before and after Alien and Martin encounter.......well there is the plane at beginning which looses control and is going down, the women holding the baby committing suicide yet she appears throughout the entire movie (is this suppose to be Johanna/Anna?), the swirl (so the swirl was not an Alien message?), one of the secret agents seems to be boyfriend of Terri (which we see at the end), then at the end of movie was Johanna/Anna leaving again with the Aliens?, the alien world (so did Martin teleported to space?), did Martin and Terri get a second chance at end of movie? (the movie ends with the same scene Martin and Terri we first see them in), and was Bowie transported to an Alien world? Could Bowie had been a hybrid human? Finally, if (again) this is based on a true story, does it mean that Milan has/had a half alien daughter?
Way too many questions of which are not answered. It seems Director wants audience to create their own perspective, but it just becomes a lot of work and disappointing to watch.
Movie is creative but not so great projected visually. I fell asleep one hour after, had to rewind to view again what I missed 😠..........
Sir (2018)
SIR has captured the beauty of love
I love the art in this film. The romance is captured between the attraction of two very different individuals. It's been awhile since I had seen a clean film (meaning there is barely any physical contact), and the attraction is captured by the desire and feelings of one another.
The film is based on the traditional Indian culture. The story is about a young, attractive, successful, and rich man, Ashwin, who is very lonely. Almost lost within himself. After leaving his bride-to-be at the altar, he realizes he has been following and pleasing everyone around him, but himself. His maid, Ratna, is a poor, young, and also very lonely women who has endured more pain and sacrifice than most at her age. Is beautiful to see how they support eachother through their everyday struggles; Ashwin trying to please everyone, and Ratna being cast as a slumdog. The film carries you through a journey of how two very different people learn to appreciate one another. Both have been taught to feel nothing for the opposite class, yet they both learn from eachother, and both realize they are the same, and fall in love.
I love how the art in the film. From beginning, the film portrays Ratna to be the smallest and unsignificant being of a human; widowed at 19, forced to live with her in-laws (already carrying duties as a slave), unappreciated, and even in her figure - tiny and petite. I love how the film focused on small details; such as how Ratna is not able to wear her bangles in her village, or how she was not allowed to be near her sister in her wedding. It touches you as you want Ratna to get out of her misery and achieve the little things she is striving for, which is to be a fashion designer. Ratna from beginning does not expect much, her pain in life has taught her she is who she is and so has accepted her fate of being unnoticed and unappreciated by those around her. She is constantly facing racism from others because she is a women, she is a widower, and being a servant, but yet Ratna is untouched by what we see. Ratna keeps her head up without being afflicted by the unhappiness. This is why I greatly appreciate the film. The humility in Ratna speaks volumes about her courage and strengths. Ashwin, also in a misery of upper class and expectancy, who is always faced with pleasing his parents and elders. His friends are portrayed as spoiled rich kids who abuse the lower class. Ashwin realizes this is not the life he wants but does not know how to change. Ashwin learns to appreciate life by appreciating Ratna, and learns to understand Ratna is the only person who has treated him for who he is, not for what he is.
Is very rare to find a film that tells romantic story without the intimacy. SIR has definitely captured the beauty of love, which is why I highly recommend it.
The Maus (2017)
Bad picture
The problem with the film is there is way too much closeups. One can not capture the picture as a whole. 90% of the movie are close ups which is why is a thriller as one cannot expect what happens next. The background is so blurry and the camera walking with the actors just gave me one big migraine. When in the mine half of the time is just dark, straining your eyes. The storyline is sad but you cannot appreciate due to the poor cinematography.
Freud (2020)
Great and addicting!
The show gives you the thrilling ride from the first 10 minutes! The series begins with a female found dead and having her private area completely mutilated! I found the show to be interesting and thrilling! Is hard for me to find something to watch where I devote my time, but with Freud I found myself binging the first five episodes! In my opinion, the series sticks to the real life character of Sigmund Freud: he was dedicated, bizarre, self-willed.
Other characters in the series also make this TV thriller exciting, along with taboo crossing such as the character Viktor having a fetish with his little sister toes, one of Freud's darkest sexual fears is to have sex with his mom, and the bull demon inside aka "Taltos" who brings out the animal out of those with darkest secrets!
I found Freud to be exiting and thrilling while giving you that early aspect in Freud's life. I highly recommend for those interested in psychological thrillers who are not repulsed by the unseemly.
