Rock School (2005)
Review the film, not the man!
Very few votes so far, but I can't understand why they're so low. This is an excellent, throughly entertaining documentary that lets you make your own mind up about a very interesting individual's teaching methods, and the results he gets.
I guess a lot of people just didn't approve of Paul and, as such, have given low ratings to register their disapproval. Idiots. How would you have come to feel so passionately about him if you hadn't seen such and insightful documentary? Speaking of which, this is one of the best I've seen in recent times. A love of the music involved will enhance your enjoyment I suppose, but it's not really about that. Check it out.
One Fine Day (1996)
Surprisingly Strong
I don't know why. I just dig this movie. It has more good bits, and less sucky bits, than other romantic comedies. Like French Kiss.
Definitely benefits from a lack of Meg Ryan.
Strong.
The Scorpion King (2002)
Far more fun than I expected
The Mummy was fun, the sequel was overblown. This is just plain silly, but hugely entertaining. Apparently the first cut, pre-reshoots, was about 70 minutes long. The finished product runs at about an hour and a half, with little plot. The lean pace ensures constant, surprisingly brutal (if bloodless) action and enough chuckles to see you through a large popcorn. The Rock is far better than you'd think, Michael Clarke Duncan is slumming it but clearly having fun, the effects are rather dodgy but who cares? Easily forgotten, but worth a look if you're not expecting high art.
Injeong sajeong bol geot eobtda (1999)
Lots of style but utterly mad
(UK DVD version) Thoroughly bizarre, beautifully shot, intentionally lacking in much by way of plot or character, but sadly fails to sustain any interest. Action sequences are too built up to be so uneventful. Interesting but ultimately flawed.
