Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023)
End of Salman Khan
This film would mark the beginning of End of salmon bhoy.
For years, he has survived on his fan base. For years, he managed to survive on zero acting skill, doing action via stunt double, minimal effort on dancing with a likable hook step, romancing with youngest possible actress, speaking in same fake accent. But now, this won't pull audience to the theatre.
Plus, I want someone to answer me. Why is Farhad Samji even getting any film to direct? What leverage does he have over producers that he gets to direct big star cast with zero outcomes? Afterall, it requires talent to tank a movie which was already a hit in south India.
Kaleidoscope (2023)
Not a masterpiece, but enjoyable.
I don't understand the hate the mini series getting in the reviews. It is not a masterpiece by any means. But not every heist series is La Casa de Papel. Even the later seasons of La Casa de Papel are not as good as the original one.
But that is okay. Not everything has to become a masterpiece or a classic. That is too much pressure to a creator to please everyone. Rather than that, let the creators give freedom to make what they like and take the series as what it is. (But I am strictly against injecting propaganda and wokism, so giving one star for the one scene of wokism.)
Okay, it is a fresh approach. Non linear storyline and showing people every episode randomly, but the White episode. I cant say about the others, but I enjoyed the sequencing of the episode they showed me. So, the experiment get positive node from me.
Story: a typical heist series with all cliches n stereotypes. A mastermind who is trying to get back at someone for something happened in past, a personal vendetta, years of meticulous planning(which doesn't need years of planning, tbh), and money never matters for him/her. Gathering a crew. One hot girl. One nerd. One loose cannon. One expendable character. One inside man. One double-cross guy. One family member. One noob. All ingredients of a heist movie crews. Meticulous planning, some mess ups, some double cross, money goes away. But ultimately, everything falls in place. Same story all the time. Oceans series, Italian job, La casa de papel etc etc. So nothing new in story. But if non linear story telling is your thing, u'll enjoy it. N pardon all plot holes, which tbh are plenty.
Acting: well, i watched it because I saw Giancarlo Esposito in the trailer. His acting is pure gold. I liked the performance of Rufus Sewell and Paz Vega. Jai Courtney does what he does the best. Drunk, angry, loose cannon. But his performance post heist is something to watch for. Others are okay too.
So I would recommend to watch it. It is worth your time.
Bang Baaja Baaraat (2015)
Headache inducing cringe series.
Plus points:
Neil Bhoopalam and Sumeet Vyas.. Put them into any roles and they will shine. Neil could have been a better protagonist in this series. N this role is new kind for Sumeet, but boy he steals the show..
Angira Dhar.. Gazab screen presence. She could have been a much bigger star, n she deserves it. She is a sweet sweet sweet ray of sunshine with powerful range of acting.
Now minus points.
Ali Faizal, the anti national pig: Let his personal views and agenda be aside. But the main question is, does he know acting at all?? Just having one expression, sorry/puppy face. I think acting is more than this.
Story: motive of the story is,
(1) Marriage is a mistake. Don't do marriage. Because every marriage they have shown is a failure n makes people unhappy. Just go on tinder and have fun. Divorce ur husband and date your daughter's ex-bf.
(2) No need of family. They only embarrass you. They are messy. Stay away from family and stay happy.
(3) All rituals (hindu ones, ofcourse) ate ridiculous. Don't leave a chance to laugh on hindu rituals.
(4) Love Jehaad is ok. All brothers should allow Love Jehaad and happily be ready with the much needed suitcase.
Bahut Hua Sammaan (2020)
Very good movie with undertone of agenda.
This is one of the rare Bollywood/hindi movies where script and the writers are the hero. Very nice script, masterfully directed and exceptionally wonderful performance by all the actors and the actress. I wish more and more movies are made in Hindi film industry where the script is the real hero.
But alas, it is full of anti hindu agenda with intension to malign particular party.
Let me explain. We live in the era where Hindi movies use 'maula', 'ali', 'allah' n 'khuda' in songs with all hindu characters, just in the name of secularism.
But in here, the insane guy is 'baba'. Why not 'maulana'?
The main villain is 'Akhand Bharat company'. Why not 'Gazwa-e-hind' company?
The master mind hallucinating agent is a baba like Ramdev Baba, why not a muslim character like Zakir Naik?
The epicentre of narcotics is Gorakhpur. Why not 'Saifai' or 'Azamgarh'?
U see, you can try yo inject your agenda into Hindi movies, but then you have to be ready for direct OTT release, cancel culture and see Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam industry getting worldwide fame.
Maybe in coming years, Hindi film industry will become a joke, as we perceive Bhojpuri industry as of today.
Jaadugar (2022)
Jaadugar- the movie magic..!!
Thats how a movie should be.
Real heroes of this movie are Biswapati Sarkar and Sameer Saxena. FYI, they are the writer and director. Bollywood should study this movie, to learn about how a story should be and how a director can envision a movie.
I don't mean any disrespect to the cast. Mr. Jitendra Kumar, u deserve every award. Staller performace. Believable looser, genuine at heart, sincere in efforts AND has some problems in him. He is a regular human being, not your typical Rahul-Raj of Bollywood movies. That is why we connect with him, even when he does colossal wrong things, we still cut him some slack.
Arushi Sharma- she is going to be the next crush of India. Very good acting.
Manoj Joshi- he has a range of acting. One scene (post-magic show), in 2 minute scene, you see his villainous side n rest of the movie, simp n gentleman. You got to see him.
Other cast members do absolute justice to their characters.
Main point of my review is the story. The writer comes from a beautiful team of TVF, who makes such lovable, believable and fun stories. You get connected with the story and it never gets out of the realism's boundary. In fact, this could have been easily an underdog story where a looser/looser team comes on top. But they didn't go that way. And it is ok. The way they combined football n magic in one scene, thats the triumph of the writer.
PS: The movie is 10/10 according to me. I dedicated 1 star out of the rating is due to the anti national traitor actor in the movie. Yes, he is a good actor n I liked his acting in this movie as well. But nation comes first. You can't employ a person whose thought and acts are harmful to the country.
Modern Love Mumbai (2022)
Non-show off and pure show.
I really liked the all stories.
Only reason why i am giving less rating is because of the casting of the traitor Nasruddin Shah in story no. 3
If you pick anti India people, your projects will loose the credibility. All traitors are being flop in movies these days. Don't cast them in OTT platforms.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Well, somehow, it missed the mark..
I can't believe that I am giving less than 10/10 to a marvel movie. I watched this movie in 'First Day, First Show' of 6 am, only to be somewhat disappointed.
"I have watched each and every episode of Agents of SHIELD, Iron Fist and Luke Cage also" - This sentence is enough to prove that I am a MCU Fanboy. But, to be honest, I can not give more than 5/10 to this movie.
Reasons:
First and the most important, KLPD. It is an Indian slang, google it.
Marvel hyped the movie by deliberately hinting about 'some' characters, they shamelessly showed glimpses of them, just to make us speculate, talked about it and get psyched. And what happened with all that foreplay, is the definition of KLPD.
(Btw, well played marvel. We were fools to think that 'yessss, I found that small detail in the trailer, that visual, that voice. Now I know what's gonna come.'. We never thought that marvel would not leak anything important. N if it has been seen, it will not be important.)
Second: Story, action sequences and VFX- they are the three pillars in which most of the marvel movies stand tall. Unfortunately, in this movie, the story just one line, "A wants something from B and C is hellbent to stop it". And actual action sequences are short and non-appealing. VFX is top-notch, btw. But overall, we leave the theatre wanting some more.
Third: The impression given was, this would be follow up of last scene of Spiderman: No Way Home. I mean, I expected to see how does Dr. Strange deal with aftermath of that movie. But instead, this movie is "Wanda Vision sequel (minus Vision) feat. Dr Strange". I mean, Multiverse and resultant Madness was more in Spiderman: No Way Home. In this movie, they merely pass through a few universes.
Gehraiyaan (2022)
Waste of time..
Gehraiyaan is the movie where there is no 'Gehraiyaan' in terms of acting, story, character development or anything.
If you have the subscription of the OTT platform, you might think that you can watch this movie for free. But the truth is, it will cost you your precious time, peace of mind and you will end up spending your money in headache medicines.
Dipika- please go to acting school. You look good, you are famous, it doesn't mean that you forget how to act.
Ananya- we will do crowd funding for you, will give you all the money, and we will sign you for like a decade, and your role is to stop acting. Please get a pet, get s hobby, get any other job, any other but acting. Beta, tum se naa ho payega..!!
Siddhant- dude, u r awesome. We loved you in gully boy. U were the only bright part of 'Bunty aur Bubbly part 2'. You are still good in this movie. But you have to ask yourself, if you continue to get your name spoilt by such bakwas movies, is it going to be the right choice for your acting career.
To all people- your head will hurt less if you bang your head against a truck running @ 100 kmph. ( NB: I don't advise you to do so.)
Antim: The Final Truth (2021)
The Salman Khan movie.
One line review, "It is yet another Salman Khan movie".
So if Tubelight, Radhe etc are movies of your choice, please go to watch it n have fun.
Otherwise, please don't watch it for free when you get to watch it for free on OTT platforms.
Firefly (2002)
A shiny series that should have not been canceled by gorham Fox..!!
In 2021, we still are amazed by countless rewatches of this Shiny series. N what was stupid Fox thinking while cancelling it? Staller cast, futuristic but realistic n relatable set up, visionary director.. This all should be summed up to be along lasting series. But at that time, studios were not inclined to budge up to every quirks n whims of a nerd.
This series is gold. Recommend to watch it..!!
Shame (2019)
A good story with Bad acting by Swara.
Finally, Swara Bhaskar should decide about taking acting classes.
Story was just fine. N Ranveer Shorey is as usual best. Cyrus Shahukar does justice to his small role. He should get bigger roles. But the abysmal rating of this short film is just because the wooden acting by Swara Bhaskar. I mean yhe furnitures did better acting than Swara Bhaskar. The lift doors has wider emotional and expression range than Swara Bhaskar.
Dharam Sankat Mein (2015)
A mediocre attempt of overcompensation
Half of the movie focuses on how graceful and deeply meaningful islam is a d how ridiculous n stupid hinduism is.
I wonder, how would a realistic version of this could be.
For example, you can show that some non-hindu is trying to learn prayer n all (like julia roberts n all), n how halaala is done, terrorist camps are there, a boy doesn't get his love due to religious differences, ending up shooting that girl and zakir naik preaches people.
Anyways, reality is seen on TV n this is a classic example of overcompensating in hope of image makeover.
