Superman: Solar (2023)
A Superman Film With Soul
Often times when we watch a superhero movie we are greeted with a non stop action flick with little to no substance. That can't be said for Superman Solar. Taking place 1 year into his time as Superman we find Clark Kent in a tiny apartment struggling to make ends meet. He's still getting his bearings in metropolis and needs a day Job. He is lucky enough to come across an ad in the Daily Planet and setup's an interview for a low paying job with the newspaper. As his day continues he does more Superman like things but gets delayed from that interview with a kid named Matt looking to jump off of a building. I'm not going to get into the plot and spoil it but it's truly a great one. It's one that puts Superman into a unique spot and raises awareness on a very important issue. If you like Superman with substance then this is the movie for you. I highly recommend it.
Star Wars: Forgotten Enemy (2021)
An Original Story In A Galaxy Far Far Away.
With many fan projects the writers and directors miss the mark. This couldn't be further from the truth with this project. I stumbled across this film on GeekTyrant and decided to give it a look .
The film is very surprising. Instead of opening with a scroll like every other fan film out there this one opens on a desert world with two characters fighting. The fight concludes with a very unique and interesting twist I will not get into here. After this twist we are greeted with a title card and the real film begins. This opening is a very clever replacement for the usual scroll. It was very refreshing.
The entire film has a bunch of interesting twists and turns. The story is very unique and I credit the writer of the film for thinking outside the box. The costumes, props and locations are all very well done and for a film that states it was done on a zero production budget in its description I was very much blown away.
The films run time of 14 1/2 minutes fly's right by with great pacing. I was very much pleased to see the use of transition wipes which only added to the star wars feel.
Finally there's a mid credits scene that is probably the biggest twist of the entire movie so I highly recommend sticking around for it.
