Bad reviewers seem a bit too angry and suspect
I understand that not everyone will like what I enjoy, however a couple of comments on here are a bit outrageous. This show is a gem because they show you how to improve your home step by step and in major detail. Yes much of it is outdated but it's an old show. You can always just use the techniques but apply your own style. Matt is a very talented carpenter so I have no clue why one of the commenters said his work looks cheap or something to that effect.
Their personalities are super sweet and classy. No yelling theatrics, dramatics or talking loudly like so many HGTV and other reality design shows. I truly miss these two!
Only Murders in the Building (2021)
Ten stars if it weren't for Selena Gomez
Martin Short and Steve Martin make the show as well as some of the other actors. Why Selena Gomez was chosen for the part I will never know. I am certain there are other more talented young women out there. Her constant monotone whiney voice never changes the Entire first season that I've watched so far. Hoping she improves during the second? But based on some of the comments on here I guess not. She has no personality, is extremely rude, bitter and not in a way that makes one empathize with her character. She grates on ones nerves but I try to ignore as much as I can bc I love the writing and of course Stave Martin, Martin short and Nathan Lane. Loved how finally the Armenian and Greek genocide is getting some attention in a Hollywood show/film among a couple other surprises. Just some little things I've noticed that make it a bit more desirable to me. But overall love the mystery and hoping Selena works on her acting and becomes a little more engaging as the show progresses.
Rise of Empires: Ottoman (2020)
Typical retelling by the wrong people
This is not accurate. They have glossed over the Ottomans cruel and abusive treatment of the Romanians, Hungarians, Armenians and the Greeks. The Ottoman sultan Took boys ages 10-18 as SLAVES, FORCED conversion to Islam and then made them jenesaries- they fought in the Ottoman Army against their own peoples. Hence why Vlad was so bitter. His father didn't hand him over to The Sultan- to be HISTORICALLY accurate- the Sultan stole him!!! So much more went on and I see a reviewer has given an account on what was left out.
I find this horribly distasteful. Imagine retelling slavery in America by making the slaves the bad guys. That would absolutely shameful. Well this is exactly the same thing.
Disappointed that Netflix would do this but then knowing their stance on certain things I shouldn't be surprised. Wikipedia has twisted this story to make the Ottomans the good guys depending on how you search it. I have found differing accounts... It's just unbelievable that the world has changed so where we must alt r history to meet the needs of certain ideologoues.
I was excited to finally see something on the Ottoman conflicts with the Balkan nations but of course here I find myself terribly disappointed and disgusted.
