Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
Fun to watch but way to sexist!!!!
I would have enjoyed the film immensely if not for the crazy sexism running through out!!! I could not overlook it and hated it!! There was no need for it and I think it took away from the overall what would have been greatness of the film.
The Magnificent Seven (1998)
My favorite version yet . . .
I did not expect to like this series when I first started. Westerns that were made after 1970's dont have the same appeal. I think it is the starring role of Michael Beihn as Chris Larabie in this adaption that truly takes the cake. I do not much prefer the original magnificent seven movies with Yul Brener as I find he did not make a convincing western gunfighter character. Where as Michael Beihn became a hero and a black figure of revenge, coolness, kindness, and uprightness in the best way possible. I cannot say I enjoyed all the episodes, but the ones I did I have rewatched several times.
My personal favorites are: wagon train part 2, Achilles, Lady Killers, and witness.
True Grit (1969)
Not a perfect adaption but . . .
If you are looking for the exact adaption from book to movie you would be slightly disappointed. If you watched the movie first, like I did you will not really know the differences. The 2010 True Grit, tho not so my a classic is a truer than this one. Keep in mind this film was made not even a year after the book was published!! Which goes to show what a big hit it was and still is for those of us who love a good classic.
The Wild Pony (1983)
Read the book for the true story watch the movie for the entertainment
The book this was inspired by is called: The Year of the Black Pony. They of course dramatized the movie to high end, probably to attract more people. The actual place the book was set in is Oregon Territory in the early 1900s. Enjoyed the movie but read the book for the story. Oh, and BTW the book and movie are fictional.
Emma (2009)
Hands down the best version of beloved Emma!!
Absolutely love this mini series. I've watched it several times and everytime I am as easily entertained and flawed by the actors/actresses portraying the beloved characters of the famed book 'EMMA'.
Haven't watched another interpretation of Emma that has yet to beat this 2009 one.
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003)
Just Watch it!!!
Maybe I'm prejudice but this is mine and my BF's favorite movie. If you love history about the Napoleonic Wars chances are you're gonna love this. Even if you arent a history buff at all like me, the cinematic values of this movie are stunning. Realistic, blunt and often times to true plus a couple jokes that will have you laughing. This film ranks #1 on my list.
Sit back, or cuddle under a cozy blanket with a snack and get ready for a cinematic masterpiece that enthralls you for a little over 2 hours. If you can appreciate a REAL movie.
