Gangs of London (2020– )

Intense

Just finished the first episode without having seen a trailer or knowing much about it. Some great action sequences, and the plot moves along at a good pace.

The episode introduces a lot of characters, with a lot of familiar actors' faces; will be interesting to see how they all fit into the story. Acting in general seems good, apart from Joe Cole - too much squinting and pouting. A shame he was chosen for the role. Fortunately he's not the one to be rooting for.

Definitely worth a watch if you are ok with gore and brutal fight scenes, and fancy a fairly complex gangland drama.

Skip season 2

Season 1 was was intriguing and interesting but suffered from the trope "I'm keeping this information secret for no reason". Season 2 was far worse, becoming a depressing grind.

Somewhat pretentious

Just finished episode 5. A lot of the reviews complain about the lead, but I found Alison Pill far more obnoxious. There are too many sociopaths in the show, some it seems you are meant to feel some level of empathy for. The sci-fi aspects often remind me of films of the 70s, which I did enjoy. And Jin Ha is a definite bright spot.

Starting to pick up now

The first couple of episodes felt a bit "Robin of Sherwood"/"Xena Warrior Princess", but this is where things start to pick up.

Good storyline, character introductions, and good fight sequence.

Poor judgement

Usually a fan of the show - disappointing to see Bill give a voice for pseudoscience and anti-vax fear-mongering.
