Britain's Ultra Nationalists (2019)
Intriguing encounters with ultra nationalists & entertaining
Aran Tori covers a wide variety of provocateurs in the far right exposing their underlying message of hate and creation of 'the other'. There were many instances Aran looked uncomfortable but wasn't discouraged by the nationalists putting him down. The people he meets are both fascinating to learn about and nasty human beings. I like the balance of anti-fascist campaigners in the film which doesn't just give the ultra nationalists a platform to spew their hate filled propaganda and presents a counter approach for people like Ivan Humble who were in the far right and Darren Carroll, Tommy Robinson's uncle who has turned a new leaf after his EDL days. Easy to watch, Aran Tori's simple approach makes the fascists expose themselves. Entertaining narrative, presenting crucial information showing extremists fuelling the fire.
Joker (2019)
Intriguing character, amazing storyline but dangerous film
Jaoqin Phoenix is incredible as he engulfs the character of Arthur Fleck and then, the Joker. You sympathise with his character as his life descends into pain and mental suffering. You see the Arthur's life deteriorate down a path of terror. Impressive film with disturbing scenes. I fear if the film is seen by someone vulnerable with aggressive tendencies it may influence their behaviour for the worse.
