Cringy and super fake
5 April 2024
I'm really impressed by how much fake this show is. They can't do even simple tricks without video editing.

There is one place where card disappears and wrist watch appears - I stopped the exact frame to see if it is fake or he's actually really quick with the hands.

You know, at least he can do that.

And... guess what? It was fake.

Guys, seriously, this trick should be easy for any actual magician without wonders of special effects.

The worst episode was the last one with hypnosis. Not a spoiler, they say it in the first minute. The episode was filled with such a bad acting, lame screenwriting and it was unbelievable how they expected us to believe that everything they show us is legitimate.

Personally felt insulted.

It was the cringiest thing I have watched in years and I watch at least one reality show per week. I give The Magic Prank Show with Justin Willman two stars instead of one, because few times it made laugh with stupid jokes. I love those.

Made by fanatic vegans for casual vegans

Instead of getting a TV series which was kinda promised for us - about twins and their diets - we got a movie about how meat industry is destroying the planet.

About 2/3 of the series are about terrible things that meat industry does. You feel right away that this is propaganda because of the one-sided point of the view.

Meat = bad. Anything plant based = DIVINE.

We all know that is not truth, there are many different advantages and disadvantages of both diets, but this movie tends to ignore EVERYTHING why plants may be bad.

For example my colleague is allergic to spinach. He found out that is because of specific pesticide that is allowed to spray on everything here.

It's just a small thing that COULD be a talking point in these series, but no, there is nothing about why plants may hurt you. Only meat bad. Plants - never bad.

And because of that results are probably fake as well. In this kind of show, they would never say that "yeah, kidney function of plant eaters are worse now". This show is so fake, just wow.

A Videogame made Entirely of Cutscenes
30 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I never had a feeling so strong that I'm watching not a movie, but someone on Youtube playing a videogame.

Just without the actual playing - only cutscene after a cutscene after a cutscene, etc.

The plot of Rebel Moon is literally the same as in many video games (let's say MAss Effect): you have to unlock several characters before you progress with the main story, so you do siquests and acquire new playable heroes.

These heroes are really different and interesting so every player would be happy. You know - a nimble ninja warrior of asian origin, Conan the Barbarian, strong black dude, sexy rugged white guy and so on.

I'm giving it 6/10 because I like Dario Naharis and his acting. He's not perfect, but he's enjoyable to watch.

Don't listen to haters
24 November 2023
I have read like 20 reviews with a score of 1/10 and all of them were "I watched half of the first episode" or "barely went through the first one, HoRrIblE". That is not a review, that is a whine that should never be seen. I watched all five and I will watch till the end.

I give the haters point for one thing - most of the characters are unlikeable and the ones you like will be "killed" in a matter of few episodes anyway. But that is the beauty of Squid game - you don't know who will survive or why.

There will be many twists and turns you won't be expecting. I gave it 7 out of 10 just because I think it is slightly rigged to some point just to eliminate people producers want to eliminate. You know - for the drama.

I worked on TV for many years and did this rigging myself many times. Despite that the show is really entertaining and I can recommend it just as a fun thing to watch.

Outlast (2023– )

Scripted. Opinion of a TV Screenplay writer.
11 April 2023
I'm a TV screenplay writer and I don't believe that Outlast is a natural survivalist show. I think big percent of the contestants, about 60%, were actors with the script (starting with the guy who "felt bad and fell", because we never even saw his face after the "incident"). Others knew nothing to keep the illusion of unscripted reality show. That is a common practice in many TV projects, I admit that I scripted some as well. It's good money, and I see it as my job. But I never thought I see this low level stuff on Netflix. If I was in charge of this product landing on the platform - that would never had happened.

Recently I watched the last season of "Alone" and after it Outlast was really terrible experience. I do not recommend it for anyone, I feel that I wasted my time and I will never get it back. I stopped watching during the 5th episode and will never continue. Producers of this show should feel ashamed.

I would rather watch paint dry
11 April 2023
Quick summary:

Plot: 1/10 Acting: 2/10 CGI: 5/10

Now we are on board. I was expecting a movie where Adam Driver is stranded on Earth and he has to do survival stuff in order to stay alive.

You know, get water, make shelter, find food, etc. You know all that stuff we have seen in "Alone", but without a half million prize and with animals a bit deadlier than a bear.

Maybe some scene where he encounters a mammal and kills it for food. Then realizes - it might have been his ancestor - and starts panicking. You know serious, but also funny/entertaining stuff.

Instead I got a movie with such a simple and boring plot that I was waiting for movie to end. Dinosaurs were copy-pasted from Jurassic Park movies, even some scenes were IDENTICAL, and of course - none of them had feathers.

After this one, me and my wife watched Cocaine Bear - it was 10x more entertaining.
