Sanditon: Episode #1.8 (2019)
In Hopes for Season 2
Gave this 10/10 purely for the cliff top kiss, the Babington & Esther happy ending and superb acting from all.
Yes there are unfinished storylines but so many characters in one show, 8 episodes wouldn't have been enough to do them all the justice they deserve. They need more time to develop.
I am choosing to see the cliffhanger ending as a midway point for great love story and not the end to an otherwise great series. Let's hope ITV give it the chance it deserves and renew it for a second season.
Sanditon (2019)
Potentially One of the Best Austen Adaptations - if there's a Season 2!
Beautifully shot, fantastic script and unbelievable, almost tangible chemistry between the romantic leads, Charlotte and Sidney. I haven't been this engrossed in a series since BBC's P&P.
Yes there is a touch of modernity to it, but I find it is that which engages the audience of today, and really draws you in - the characters are more relatable. The acting is spot on - Theo James and Rose William's performances in the final two episodes in particular.
***SPOILER ALERT***
Should there be a season 2, which was intended by Andrew Davies, hence the painful cliffhanger ending to Series 1, alongside the acting and beautiful cinematography, this could easily go down as a long standing period drama favourite. Hopefully ITV will consider the long term success and renew ASAP.
