30 for 30: The American Gladiators Documentary: Part Two (2023)
Part 2:The search for Dan Carr
There were two men listed as creators of American Gladiators;John Ferraro and Dan Carr. In Part 1,John Ferraro tells his version of the history of American Gladiators for a good portion of the first part. In Part 2,the crew tries to get Dan Carr's side of the story but the filmmaking crew have to do some maneuvering around some complex legalities from John Ferraro to be able to talk to Dan Carr. By the way,I should also mention that most of the footage was shot during the pandemic.
Part 2 doesn't really cover much from seasons 4-7 of the first run of American Gladiators and treats the 2008-09 NBC reboot with great disdain and disinterest much like the general audience did in 2008-2009;as if it were a smelly fart.
To me,Part 2 felt a little incomplete. Looking forward to the Netflix AG documentary to try to fill in the blanks the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary leaves.
30 for 30: The American Gladiators Documentary: Part One (2023)
Part 1:The first half of American Gladiators and John Ferraro
Part 1 is about John Ferraro and the beginning of American Gladiators up to the end of Season 3 and features 8 gladiators, mostly B and C-list gladiators that you may not remember unless you've seen most of American Gladiators from 1989-1997.
The gladiators featured are Gemini (an OG,original Gladiator Season 1-3 and to me an A-lister),Sabre (S4-7 A-B),Elektra (S4-5 B),Titan (AG 2008-09 B),Viper (S3-4 C),Dallas (S4 I think C),Malibu (S1 B) and Thunder (S2-3 B) before he passed away in 2021.
When you think American Gladiators most of the people here are not what immediately comes to mind like Nitro,Laser,Zap,Ice,Turbo,Tower,Siren and Sky. Some of these gladiators will be featured in the Netflix American Gladiators documentary possibly coming out in 2023.
