Really bad casting. Edward G's son is Burt Lancaster? Maybe he got his looks from his mother's side? Still a stretch. And, the Annie character is laughable. She's an ironing board, physically and emotively. Why does she speak as though she has a stone under her tongue? Her performance ruined the whole thing! -- Arthur Miller.

The sets and costumes look like they were purchased at a church jumble sale. Gina McKee was horribly miscast. She appears ghostlike throughout. She's virtually expressionless and hovers about like her feet don't touch the ground. It was a struggle to finish the series. I do not recommend.

I'm just glad Jennifer Jason Leigh wasn't cast in the lead role...

...I am less put off by Elisabeth Moss... Although she's annoyingly saturated to the point of remote-control-throwing. I guess being on the threshold of pretty/ugly makes one a "good" actress, nowadays. At least EM isn't spewing her lines through clenched teeth.

Impotent is right.

A cardboard cut-out of Dakota Fanning was used in place of the actress. They just moved it around from scene to boring scene. That dead stare and had a half-open mouth became laugh-out-loudable early on. Geez. I feel bad for Emma Thompson.
