This movie is just barely a 2. Also just barely a movie, barely a plot, barely understandable. It bills itself as a horror movie but I just can't believe that his not meant as a send-up. The ending is 100% hell no 110% cheesey. I took IMDB at its description of a horror movie. But there are scenes and actions that make no sense unless this movie is a parody. The plot of 'they're making a monster movie but the monster is real' is familiar to horror fans. But trying to twist it into a new direction just an ends up creating a pretzel shaped mess. My advice? Get some pretzels and pick another movie.

The Air I Breathe
(2007)
Underrated
30 July 2023
I just watched The Air I Breathe on one of those "cheesey" cable channels. It showed 2 out of 4 stars but it sounded interesting. I looked it up on here and thank goodness I did. I watched it and I liked it for a multitude of reasons.
I have to say IMHO this is probably the best "serious" ~ non comedic performance I have seen from Brendan Fraser. AlI the way around good acting. Sarah Michelle Gellar's performance is stellar and Kevin Bacon's performance in this movie is terrific.
So thank you to everyone who wrote the good reviews. They steered me in the right direction and I'm glad I watched this movie.

Hounded
(2022)
Very interesting
12 July 2023
The movie itself is rather interesting (if you like this kind of movie, which I do) but the best thing about it is the actor Malachi Puller-Latchman. This young actor was required to show an enormous range of emotions and handles them well.
For some reason this movie is listed on here as hounded but on prime channels as Hunted. It's worth the watch and in a couple of places it does give some interesting twists and turns.
Also how is it that some people right short reviews? Whenever I try, it won't let me. If there's a trick please tell me about it (only have 32 characters to go) please? Thanks.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't usually write reviews for movies that need to have spoiler warnings on them but in this case I'll break my own rule. I have questions:
What was up with the word RUN ! Showing up at random times? It's the title of the movie we know she has to run. And all of the plot twists are completely not. I could see them coming from a mile away. Her problems are handled in very unrealistic ways. In 2022 no one would criticize her for not having the babysitter number memorized. We all just put the numbers in our phones. The true nature of the villain is obvious. The whole movie just left like "what was that supposed to be ".
The Ark
(2023– )
Not sure

Why this is getting such horrible reviews. Seems like everyone watched a little and made a snap judgement. I binged the first 3 episodes and I was hooked. This is not like some other series where every week is a problem that gets fixed and the next week is a different problem. There's things that can't be resolved in an hour and this show knows it, respects it.
232 characters to go. Speaking of characters, they are not fully fleshed out in the first episode. I expected that, because to fully developed characters you need to watch them grow not just to be told about them. Action speak louder than words.

The Boy

Not for migraine suffers

This movie is both emotionally and physically dark. And the random tones were confusing- when the "car accident guy" was chasing the boy I expected suspense music but the banging of the drum was too loud. By the end my eyes were feeling strained and my eyes were feeling overwhelmed.
From what I have read the movie portrays the truth/near true of 'how to make a psychopath'. A perfect storm of circumstances. Not a feel good movie but very intriguing one. Cast is amazing especially the boy. So now I have 92 characters to use to post this. Maybe I should use them to complain about this stupid requirement.

Warning: Spoilers
It's hard to describe this movie without giving spoilers. It's only 90 minutes, so give it a view. I watched it on IMDB so it was free and well worth the price. Jk.
My only bone of contention is that a realtor in 2010 would no nothing about the internet. And that HS kids have flip phones, Blackberries and have to go to the library because, well I don't know why.

A different~ish kind of "found footage" film
10 March 2022
I don't like found footage movies. But I was busy and this came up next so I figured I'd turn it off later. But I got into it. The first 1/2 hour is pretty much what you expect. Then thing actually get interesting. Everyone has an angle and the movie keeps you guessing. And there is more after the credits.

Don't bother

I've seen this before and didn't understand it. I thought maybe if I watched it through without interruptions I'd see that missing point. Nope. Nothing. Can anyone explain the point or story that this is movie is telling?
The I-Land
(2019)
This is so much better than I was expecting
10 November 2021
The stories are layered very interestingly but it is a lot to take in during the 1st episode. But it's worth it. I was lucky enough to have time to binge this over 2 days. And the ending is both shocking and satisfying.
Monsters of Man
(2020)
This a GOOD movie
23 August 2021
I think the lower reviews are coming from people who were not paying attention. This movie is a tad slow at first but once it gets up and going you should pay 110% attention because everything little thing be comes important. My onl complaint is for the director ~ dude it's a movie about killer robots we know there's going to be a glitch so your attempt at "foreshadowing" during the opening credits is plain plain stupid and unneeded.
Self/less
(2015)
His best performance to date
11 August 2021
I know fans of Deadpool are going to be upset but IMHO Ryan Reynolds shows such a range of emotions it's incredible. The story itself is great, lots of twists and turns but both the story and the actions are believable. I could go on all day but what you really need is to GO WATCH THIS RIGHT NOW 😃
Alita: Battle Angel
(2019)
I'm unsure
5 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I loved Alita, the merging of physical and CG effects was great. I expected great because I think Robert Rodrigues is an amazing direct ~ an underrated genius in his field MHO.
But I don't know if I should blame James Cameron or the graphic novel writer for this 100% rip off of the 1970s Rollerball game. Even down to trying to get her killed during a rigged game.
The rest of the movie was creative and well fleshed out but it's like they realized they needed to have an ongoing event to move the story forward and just picked this.

The Ritual

Definitely worth the watch
17 July 2021
I know it's odd to say a horror movie feels very natural, but this one does. The suspense builds naturally based on a series of seemingly logical decisions. Some people have crabbed about the ending, but overall a great story and a couple of serious jumps. It doesn't rely on gore just good story and good acting. GO WATCH IT !

Warning: Spoilers
They ran a headline "You need to watch 2020's best indie sci-fi on Amazon." So I did. And the movie is like everything else that came to us in 2020. Crap. Beautiful location, but everything else was completely predictable. Even the "GIANT TWIST " other reviewers have raved about I saw coming about 20 minutes in. Don't waste your time.
I really like this episode
22 June 2021
I like this show. I never watched it in it's original network run, but a friend recommended it and not only is it a fun bingeable but this episode is just FUN. GREAT. CREATIVE.
I give the whole series about an 8 on average but this episode is just plain FUN. WATCH.
