Wider perspective on a biased original
2 February 2024
I am convinced Steven Avery is right where he belongs.

After watching the Netflix series back in 2015 something didn't sit quite right, I couldn't point out why and I did my fair share of research. Over time I got more and more unsettled by his supposed innocence.

The edits and cuts of phone calls, altering the answers given in court, keeping evidence out ... Well, they're storytellers, but they choose to sit on the wrong side of it.

After watching Convicting a Murderer, I still think the police were flawed at times, some participants were shady, to say the least, but the evidence pilling up to the same person leaves no space for presuming Steven Avery could be innocent.

I admit I enjoyed Netflix's version but it is important to keep an open mind and not be blinded by what we're shown there. As thin as a pancake can be, it always has two sides. Here we get to see the family, the police, the media... a much wider perspective.

Fool Me Once (2024)

Entertaining enough if you don't think too much about it
5 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I found this 8 episode series entertaining but the more I think about it after watching the less I like it. 6/10 is where I settled.

This are my problems with the series:

*Maya was not credible at all as a militar, Turn off a radio and not being noticed? If you ever used a radio you know that even if not listening to something there is always that frequency noise on the background. If turned off then you get full silence, Shane would know the difference

* Timeline inconsistencies: so Maya lost her job because of the video, but for her sister to be begging for the audio not to be further released (while she was abroad), then when has Maya lost her job? How long it took for Maya to be punished after the video is public? Long enough for Claire to start investigating and finding all that and get herself killed apparently.

*How did Claire find out about Joe? She has investigating the Burkett company, and she got the papers. At what point this she connect this the deaths? We get that Maya got there because Claire went to the school with her son, but how did Claire get there in the first place at all? We get no connection from Claire p.o.v.

*Why was Shane all that creepy? Just because?

*What's up with the call from Joe's sister? That heavy breathing was just because it's cool? We get at the end that she is not a fool and knew about all the family affairs, so, what was the point of that call?

* Why did Maya only cared to investigate after killing her husband and waited for the ballistic confirmation to talk to her sisters friend? She already knew at that point the gun was the same

*The nanny cam had no sound in the begging of the series, am I supposed to be fed that now it has and also is connecting to Cory and all that? If it has no sound it's just a video of people arguing, Maya pointing a gun, place it on the table and then being shot. Without sound it proves nothing but the death of Maya.

*If her mother in law was worried enough to fake that nanny cam video so she would crack, wouldn't you be following her every step waiting for Maya to make a mistake? She cared enough to fake a video but nothing more?

*A man that has been talking to the air and fainting everywhere would ever be the lead in investigation? Don't think so. As much as he had been a good cop in the past, he has no conditions to have that role at the series.

I could go on and on about police being too fake, the acting, the plot holes, etc. I will just say it was entertaining for 8hours if you shut down your brain.

Brilliant and unexpected
4 March 2021
I started watching the series after a friend suggestion. I had seen recently the series After Life and absolutely loved it, when i knew this one was same register, combining comedy and drama, i simply had to watch. It was a brilliant experience, i laughed out loud alone, then also cried and had to stop the episodes in some moments because it was too much. This series made me think, change perspective and no doubt will be one of my lifetime favorites.
