The Closer: You Have the Right to Remain Jolly (2011)
Needs a Warning
In this day and age the Male behaviour around Buzz's sister is really sick and creepy. Typical of Male behaviour in the office of the time. It's not exclusive of this episode, but throughout the series.
Not aged well at all.
Poirot: The Lost Mine (1990)
Re: Monopoly Error
As a child I played Monopoly in the late 60s/early 70s, with my siblings. All our 'men' the boot, dog, racing car, and top hat were all made of silver metal. I've never known them to be made of anything else.
Wuthering Heights (1970)
Worst Version
Timothy Dalton is the only saving grace of this version, the score and photography merit a mention, but the rest is abysmal. Calder-Marshall lacks passion and conviction, and appears at times to be half-witted. The deviation from the book sometimes necessary but here it's just silly. If only Michael Anderson had done his version with Richard Harris!
The 1939 version is still the best version ever of the book.
The Woman in White (1982)
DVD Available
Reading the Woman in White was a defining moment in my life, it is without doubt one of the best books ever written, and the book I have enjoyed more than any other. About half way through reading it I discovered it had been made into a TV series and was yet to be broadcast, it sticks to the book so well and the characters are all brought to life, especially Marion and Mr Fairlie. Unfortunately some of Wilkie's humour did not translate, in particular Walter's description of Marion upon first meeting her, which in the book made me laugh out loud, it does not in the series. But never the less, the series is excellent and deserves to be seen by an audience so long denied access to it, and now at long last the DVD for this series is available. Well done BBC, you got something right at last!!
