Beings (2007)
An Achievement in Alien Abduction Movies
I saw this movie at the AFI Film Festival and I was plenty intrigued by its honesty. It seemed to have set out to create this reality of what it would be like and look like if Alien Beings had recorded their scientific experiments.
With that in mind, I found that the movie showed me what it might be like to get abducted by Aliens. Throughout the movie I felt I had a lost sense of time, because there is no way of telling how long these people are on this spaceship. Speaking of the spaceship, I thought it was pretty interesting that the entire ship was organic. Nothing was mechanical
I've never seen that before
very cool.
This movie is anything but normal. It could be classified as Independent experimental, because it pushes the boundaries of the norm and take us where no one has ever gone before, much like early Kubrick. I was baffled to read in one of the reviews that the audience didn't applaud. I was there and it was a full house. Not only did they applaud, but people were calling it brilliant. There were even some famous UFO experts in the audience that remarked how accurate they thought it was in comparison to the real thing.
If you like to switch off your brain and become comfortably numb then you will probably not like this movie. It's a movie that makes you have to think. It's not like a lot of studio movies these days where everything is explained upfront. Just when I thought I had it figured out, the ending warped me
it made me wonder, did the entire abduction happen in just a matter of seconds (like the people on Discovery Channel claim), or was it all just a dream? Enjoy the Beings experience.
