The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)

Pretty likeable but could've been much more

Trying to be as objective as possible they could've done so much more which I hope they'll do in the sequel, this is Mario we're talking about! The visuals and colors are breathtaking, the story is basic. This official film is quite nice for someone who doesn't know anything about the Mario world, and fun for the fans like me with all the many references, costumes, power ups and musics from Mario Kart/bros/3d world and all the characters and enemies, where's my Daisy Nintendo?!

I really liked Peach as brave and Donkey Kong as a bully. Many important characters are missing that has to be present and can make a great next film: Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Yoshi, Rosalinda, Bowser jr and many bosses.

As a first film is really simple it should take inspiration from Wreck-it Ralph, hopefully they'll do a more complex story like Mario Galaxy/Odissey or even partners in time, the potential is there since this was a huge success.

My vote 7,5.

Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant (2009)

Not that bad

The movie is really not that bad honestly. The story is quite fast paced and has an easy plot. The intro is just like Percy Jackson but a really weak version of it, the characters are not really explored enough to make them remarkable unlike it, if you want to really grasp an idea on the movie. The settings are dark and the circus is a cool idea. Even the little characters that you finds out at the end how they got like that, are never explained, could've been cool for another plot. Shame that it never actually got a sequel to at least finish the story as it really ends in a abrupt way, they really should have put the ending and made the film a bit longer instead.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)

A perfect mix between cartoon, dark, adult themes

This movie is a nostalgia for many. Watched when I was little for the cartoons but really never grasped the adult themes. Many dark parts especially when they are vaporizing the cartoons. It looks so good for a 1988 film which puts to shame nowadays films. A perfect mix between a serious detective 90's film and a funny adventure cartoon, not too long too so it doesn't get boring. There are many references to every cartoon and kids won't really see the adult parts in this. It's a adult movie made in a lighthearted way for kids. But also this movie is famous for Jessica Rabbit, a dream woman for many, which you really wouldn't think they put in a cartoon theme like this.

City Hunter (1987–1991)

Incredible easy to get into

This anime show is amazing, especially if you like Lupin the third and its themes. Really funny and really emotional. You don't even have to watch episodes in order to understand the story. The premise is very easy: a detective and his assistant work on solving the cases in a very direct way unlike police. The best part is the relationship between Hunter and Kaori, and both their values. Their scenes are extremely emotional

Hunter is a pervert for every woman he sees but his other side is an incredible mature, profound and strong man, who'll do anything to protect his clients especially Kaori. He goes after every girl except Kaori, but deep inside he knows very well he loves her.

Kaori is extremely funny and everytime slams Hunter with a giant hammer, a japanese cliché. After she sees his other side she falls in love with him despite his pervert side and'll do anything to stay by his side, despite all the beautiful girl that happens to be near him.

Serious Lupin

Set in New York this film is based around actions, auctions, oil and wars for the economy. Can't say I really like the topic as it's less adventurous than the others but the plot is alright.

The characters are always funny especially Jigen with his jokes on women.

What I really like is how cold Lupin is in this particular film. Once he found out the secret location of the treasure he doesn't even care that much since all the fun in solving the mistery is gone. He kisses such a dangerous woman which make her fall in love with him, but in the end she remains with nothing completely destroyed by Lupin morally.

Lupin the 3rd: The Hemingway Papers (1990 TV Movie)

Fairly enjoyable Lupin film

This time everyone on the team has something that needs to be settled on their lives, and get hired by different factions after 1 same objective: the map treasure.

Jigen has unfinished business with a traitor, Goemon hears about something his katana can't cut, Fujiko and Lupin are after the treasure as always: everyone will eventually team up for the same goal. Marie and Zenigata are secondary characters this time.

One thing I liked is their recurrent meeting at Marie's bar, which becomes their base. There's very little time dedicated to Marie but still our thief steals her heart.

I would recommend, not the best best Lupin film but enjoyable.

Howard the Duck (1986)

Weird, feels uncanny

This has to be one of the weirdest mental trip in a film I've seen. You can see it's from the 80s. The story is just so random and the story is very simple. There's the theme of bestiality which is very weird and forbidden. Something like that would've been cancelled today's, but they're brave for that. The film isn't that terrible, I would give a 5-6/10.

The thing that strikes the most in this particular film are the many violent and bloody scenes which are not a common thing in Lupin films.

The tone is more serious this time and the characters are fighting for their lives, the treasure is a 2nd priority.

As for the characters, Zenigata is basically cut out of the film, and the others are always in help of Lupin, but nothing memorable.

It's a forgettable Lupin film only for true fans.

The Secret of My Success (1987)

Absolutely unrealistic but fun movie

From the 2nd half the film becomes very funny. This is a comedy, if I were to rate it on realism I would give 1/10. There are some genuine parts too real for today society, not making career without knowing the big people. But 80% of the film is a funny fantasy that any men would dream of, especially both girl lol. Literally everyone is clueless of what even is going on. The office director doesn't notice anything, the lower level director doesn't notice anything. On a multimillionaire company there aren't any cameras apparently, on elevator too. The boss of the company is on another level tho, he doesn't notice anything both at work and about the usual cheating of his wife. All becomes even more absurd when all 3 discover everything, and both the aunt and his girl don't care he basically cheated on both. Despite all there are some very enjoyable and funny moments.

Out of the Lupin films I seen now this is one of the best. The movie is not one of the funniest unlike someone else said in the reviews, this film is pretty serious but great at that, compared to other Lupins its theme is much darker (cloning, controlled reproduction, dna manipulation). The plot starts simple as the team wants to steal 2 plates that leads to the treasure, but will end up being more than that, which I won't spoil.

The characters all are great, unlike most other films they act separately during the heist which I love. Lupin always sneaks somewhere, Fujiko is seducing, Jigen and Goemon are opening the way.

Zenigata is great, they did him justice. For once of the few films the focus is on him, lots of action, and his sense of justice and love. He ends up collaborating with Lupin discovering a greater enemie for both. For some reason every time they team up is one of the best Zenigata moments.

This is definitely a must watch of the series. The whole theme of this film reminds me of a ps2 hidden gem game "Lupin la morte, Zenigata l'amore". If you liked this film you should look up the game and viceversa, the 2 stories have many common things.

Very forgettable, watch it only if you're a fan. There's some action with the whole squad. Everyone has equal time on screen, but they really did Zenigata dirty on this one. While he collaborates with lupin, he's the weak character that was removed from the job. Fujiko is interesting, as her curves are very exaggerated in this film in particular, and she's pretty merciless when it comes to deceiving. The drawings are probably the only thing that I quite like of this film, they aren't the best but have a unique style as all other Lupin films. Overall it's pretty weak as a film in the Lupin series, like a couple others.

Decent Lupin film for the fans of the saga but nothing special. Although the story is simple there are many characters. Not too many memorable or very funny moments honestly. There are just few scenes with zenigata, just to say he's there and nothing else. All characters gets equal screentime so it's not focused on anyone. I like the style of the drawings in this film even if different.

The Last Castle (2001)

I liked it but it's unbelievable

The movie has strong emotions which I really liked. The new inmate completely wins the trust of the whole prison's inmates after moving rocks for 2 straight days. He creates a symbol as a unity to give hope for everyone, the castle, which lately everyone will use as shield to escape.

I like the film as action, and strategy but this is completely irrealistic in so many ways. No guards outside because they're all searching a flag inside building lol. Somehow the inmates built a catapult and a fkn bazooka made with a tube and a gas bottle. Nobody noticed, aren't there cameras? Where do they even get the materials? How aren't there guards in any situation?

Did they all just do this for a new prison captain instead of escaping or proving something?

Venial Sin (1974)

Don't be too much of a simp

I'll be honest, as an Italian who watched this in my own language, this is better than many other similar films of the genre/theme. It's basically a perversion story about the aunt and I think this is enough you need to understand. The thing that strikes the most to me it's not the nephew who desire the aunt and doesn't even accept the occasion with another girl his age, but the aunt who is pretty pathetic in most scenes. She goes with every men she gets and after using the nephew do all her chores, he gets tired of her and goes with his own life.

She gets sad of not receiving attentions and wants him more than his husband, who actually is betraying her. But she can't make up her mind and still goes with the husband, which is basically most of today's female mentality predicted by a 1970 film. Honestly I don't know, it kinda makes her character pathetic.

A good message from it is, don't lose your chance with a girl because of your perversion, you'll end up having nothing. (unless the perversion works)

Shame for the actor who died at the age of 17, gotta respect a young guy who act a kiss with a woman of that caliber.

The Prestige (2006)

Interesting finale but very very macabre

First of all I seen the 8.5 score with over a million reviews which surprised me but after watching it, it's definitely overrated, read why at half my review. First of all I'm not a fan of the past-present-past-present changing scenes, it's a headache. The film is quite enjoyable and thrilling, 2 illusionists rivals for life try to be the best, and even ends up harming each other for the consequences of what happened to angier's wife. Borden ends up stealing angier's new wife (but you'll soon know it's not him) and ruins his show.

Until here is all cool.

But when science become the theme of the film, well everything here lose sense. Science isn't illusion, and tesla teleport/duplicate machine doesn't exist. This film started as illusionist not as scientist. Angier basically duplicates him self without knowing which of the copies will drown behind the scenes. With this he gets the rival executed in prison, wanting to steal his daughter with the new identity. Eventually gets killed by borden's twin.

This movie is good and interesting but I expected a masterpiece for 8.5. People voting 10 really don't know the difference between illusion and science.

Z for Zachariah (2015)

Very wasted, especially the end

Looked promising. Good location, good premise. But the rest is shallow. Nothing is explained, and the relationship story is even the worst part, this film truly is a woman moment. Who even wrote this. A girl who believes in faith after meeting a man realizes she has feelings for him. He doesn't say no but prefers waiting because it can complicate things. Then the potential girl stealer appears so he confess his love to her. She doesn't think twice before deciding to bone the new man, quite the irony for a religious girl lol. She must be really thirsty to go from being a caring person to becoming a desperate love seeker. The ending doesn't even make sense, we don't know what happens to the other man, but we can guess it. Who can you even blame of the 3 for being the worst? The guy who lost the chance, the not so religious girl, or the random man?

Unstoppable (2010)

One of the dumbest movies ever

Let me just go off a train to change the line without stopping it. Once failed cannot go on it because it started to go faster. "What do we do?" Let's not call superiors immediately and wait for the train to go far enough. I really hope the 7 and more ratings are from bots because otherwise people really clueless of what a movie is. It's dumb on so many levels even for someone that doesn't know anything about trains. This is something that will never happen in reality luckily because trains are not made to go without controls.

Alita: Battle Angel (2019)

Takes inspiration from many videogame themes, but disappointing end for reasons

Surprising movie not gonna lie. It's set in futuristic time where there are poor on down part, which are ready to lie and do dirty jobs to get one day into the higher, where riches are. This isn't anything new, in fact it's 100% identical to Final fantasy xii regarding the society. It's kinda lame at the start but it does get good. The landscape is beautiful, metallic, futuristic. The themes are nothing new too, future technology, cyber humans but somehow this film takes the best parts into it. The action combat is the main theme and it's very satisfying, it looks inspired from metal gear rising.

The concept of machine/human love is very weird and also not new but it's honestly beautiful how's represented, Persona 3 is the first that comes to my mind.

The final tho, it literally cuts off expecting you to go see the sequel if it ever comes out.

Being this the 14th lupin film I watched it is pretty average. There's a bit of everything: action, music, funny scenes but nothing in particular is amazing. It's about the titanic treasure but it's very forgettable as a film. There's many scenes with Goemon, that's probably the highlight of the movie, with a cool twist at the end. There are better Lupin films, but this is ok.

Very Beautiful

Beautiful Lupin film. If there's something that doesn't go unnoticed in Lupin films is the environment, especially in this one. Takes place in Barcelona with all Gaudi's masterpieces and Sagrada familia. But before that, we also see all places of the world and their monuments. I've been to Barcelona and they really captured it well.

One funny thing is that Lupin quest is to take back stolen treasures instead of stealing them in this one. Drawings are great, lots of action. Characters are great too with Fujiko doing the triple game. This time, the treasure is something that cannot be stolen. Honestly this is a really great Lupin film, definitely one to watch.

Funny film about fetishes

The start was actually interesting then it drops like it's not even the same film. A loser that skipped the occasion to go to bed with a woman, makes it an existential crisis, and start inventing fetish stories in the most exaggerated way. Reminds me of that guy at school that everyone listens its girl stories about. The guys at the bar are really fun tho, it's like they can't live without hearing a love story without dreaming at eyes open. Then it becomes a bit pathetic and the wife actually wants to do the fetishes she actually criticized about his stories. Bruh. I feel like to enjoy this movie you have to watch it in a funny and ironic way.

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

A good movie

The movie is pretty cool, reminds me of borderlands. It's not a masterpiece but it's great. Lots of action. Great characters. Costumes are spot on. Story is fine with a bit of twist on the end which goes back to the beginning. The environment is definitely the highlight of the film. A city in a desert, battles in cars for the fuel during the trip. You can feel somehow the trip even if it's all desert.
