Trying to be as objective as possible they could've done so much more which I hope they'll do in the sequel, this is Mario we're talking about! The visuals and colors are breathtaking, the story is basic. This official film is quite nice for someone who doesn't know anything about the Mario world, and fun for the fans like me with all the many references, costumes, power ups and musics from Mario Kart/bros/3d world and all the characters and enemies, where's my Daisy Nintendo?!

I really liked Peach as brave and Donkey Kong as a bully. Many important characters are missing that has to be present and can make a great next film: Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Yoshi, Rosalinda, Bowser jr and many bosses.

As a first film is really simple it should take inspiration from Wreck-it Ralph, hopefully they'll do a more complex story like Mario Galaxy/Odissey or even partners in time, the potential is there since this was a huge success.

The movie is really not that bad honestly. The story is quite fast paced and has an easy plot. The intro is just like Percy Jackson but a really weak version of it, the characters are not really explored enough to make them remarkable unlike it, if you want to really grasp an idea on the movie. The settings are dark and the circus is a cool idea. Even the little characters that you finds out at the end how they got like that, are never explained, could've been cool for another plot. Shame that it never actually got a sequel to at least finish the story as it really ends in a abrupt way, they really should have put the ending and made the film a bit longer instead.

This movie is a nostalgia for many. Watched when I was little for the cartoons but really never grasped the adult themes. Many dark parts especially when they are vaporizing the cartoons. It looks so good for a 1988 film which puts to shame nowadays films. A perfect mix between a serious detective 90's film and a funny adventure cartoon, not too long too so it doesn't get boring. There are many references to every cartoon and kids won't really see the adult parts in this. It's a adult movie made in a lighthearted way for kids. But also this movie is famous for Jessica Rabbit, a dream woman for many, which you really wouldn't think they put in a cartoon theme like this.
