Duran Duran: There's Something You Should Know (2018)

Didn't even scratch the SURFACE

Two stars...only because it'd been a while since I've heard the music... memories. Duran Duran is an iconic band, providing the soundtrack for life thru the 80's...90's.....but if this were to be a documentary on the band ?

You didn't just "miss the mark"...you never SAW it !

Duran Duran has such an interesting story to tell, and it spans decades. Music that you'd love to write off as typical bubble gum pop garbage...but it was just too good....too catchy...and you realized back then..."hey, I'm listening to top 40-- and it's really good !!

But this documentary? Huge ripoff. A very fast and superficial look, at a band where the real story, the individual stories are a whole lot more complex...involved... interesting... But you didn't expand on the real story offering "fluff" instead.

And the problem with offering"fluff" ALL the time is that your never taken seriously, and if that happens....the story suffers.

Gotta be a fan

If you're not "into it", or if you watch to criticize and make fun of....that's cool. Welcome aboard. Because in the end...it's you wasting your time..hate it for you.

If you ARE a fan, like me ? These guys have been doing this nearly 30 seasons. It's a niche where you see a lot of bumbling amateurs and fools quickly vacate. I'm here for the evidence. I don't mind watching an hour for a combined 8 minutes of "wow, did you see that?" Zach survives here and is at his best when he leans on the story, evidence, and investigation to bring it all home. He is an excellent story teller. Demon House , both parts, was just absolutely amazing. You can't watch something like that, with all the witnesses and events combined, and not think to yourself "holy hell....that's amazing".

I pick on it myself.... episodes that involve one of the crew (especially Zac) getting "affected" , and acting angry or out of control drive me crazy. It's so damn childish.....and you just realize it's probably a crappy location and it gets pumped up a little.

I'm a 55 year old male, probably not the median audience, but I'm here for my own reasons.....and im good with it. This is the spirit you should watch it with as well.

It's always amazing to me how people will call "fake" or BS......yet they watch the entire show. Hmmmmmm.

If Zac leaned on what he does best in the preparation, presentation, investigation, and demonstration? Every episode would be stellar. It's not hard to pick out the ones that have care put into them for you....me....the viewer. Like them or not, the GAC are "showmen", and I'll stick around for what's next.

If your hammering it with bad reviews, I mean.....why are you here ? What did you expect to see ?

Rock on guys.......hope you've got years left to go.

Race to the Summit (2023)

If you've ever pushed yourself doing anything physical, you'll enjoy this. The feeling of giving more than you have to give, and really pushing it until you feel you will.... explode. Mine was running, and reaching that plateau on a plane where nobody else was. Your pushing so hard, and everything is in sync. You have done it for years and only the unforseen "oddity" failures can remove you from competition. You're good.

Then, when you see people that race up the side of a mountain where 1 in 3 die, and they are doing this without ropes ....well...you realize you haven't done much of anything. Through the doc they are very well spoken, normal, grounded even. But this goes beyond any of that. You look for some reason for there to be a death wish...and it's not there.

These are just people racing up some of the most hellified climbs on the planet......for the hell of it.

More than once watching this I found myself at the edge of my couch, in full cringe mode as they depend on a hook, grab or step to breathe again.

Echoes (2022)

As the story evolved through the first 3 episodes you could fully grasp what it was turning into. Two twin women trading positions in each other's lives sometimes for extended periods of time.

It looked really promising as one of the twins comes up missing and the other begins to assume the role of both all the time. Man, the directions this could have gone. I was ready for the binge.....and then the two women ran across each other.

I'm not sure what happened but you can actually feel this transition in the story as it declined. In fact I had no problem leaving it to do yard work.

When a story starts out as interesting and as promising as this one....and then changes....you have to wonder what happened in real life. Did they lose a writer? Did a time schedule change ? Budget ? What ?

Kudos and special mention for the actress who played the sheriff. Everytime this character appeared I wanted to punch her directly in the face really hard. With nonstop outright intrusive questions and a quirky head twitch with eyes that loved to roll...why....in real life a sheriff like that would hold a world record for instigating the most "battery on a LEO" charges ever against one victim.

I liked the doc very much. Well put together and well told. I will never stop being amazed at how far some people will go to make themselves feel okay about some sickness in their life. Oh they try in earnest to draw pity, empathy, sorrow for the struggle and relief of the pain but the fact remains. If they didn't know it was wrong then why this huge struggle and charade to not go full disclosure. It's a movement that has nearly come full circle in our culture...one where acceptance usually just means that sane people are tired of putting up an argument on ears that WANT to be sick. How bad is it ? If you don't comply your a hater and a basher. Beastiality is next. The lengths they go to all the whole ignoring a simple truth.......the equipment doesn't line up and this ain't a modified race.....understand? No? Then please....take all the room in the shadows you require....but stop reaching out to sell us that it's normalcy and okay...... because it isn't.

Despite what she did and what happened...you can't help but like this woman. It reminded me so much of the people that were around me growing up. Despite flaws..and there were plenty, they do what they say and say what they mean. Unfortunately, the drug problem will never go away...but people with this persona will vanish.

This is what happens with no information, no planning, and zero common sense. Watching this show I'm amazed at how fast they change directions over personal guessing and conjecture. They say things that don't need to be said, and explain theories as if you....the viewer...are in 2nd grade. Ya gotta love shows like this and pull for the underdog....but most of what they say and do doesn't make any sense.

What a shame to get these REALLY good locations, you appear to get all kinds....or should I say a rainbow (pun intended) of evidence that legit investigators would KILL for....and you "tuck tush" (pun intended) and...,.....run? Dude......DUDE.

I remember this cat (pun intended) on YouTube....if anyone has not seen THAT.....you need to...pretty cool. Now you have the opp to be on TV......you run, speak with inflection so every statement sounds like a question.... AND your just a little too ..uh...well....pretty sure you get it. You better put some .....guess I'll say "force" or "bravado" into this Adam or you may as well just flush it NOW.

Reading other reviews here..."wow..a REALLY great movie".... I have to wonder what those people would do if they saw movies like "Good fellas"..or "Hurt Locker". Would they just go catatonic....or freak out ? Because THIS movie SUXX !!! Really BAD actors acting VERY badly. The OVER-acting is almost comical. Save yourself the trouble.

Just so hard to explain and understand what message moves from your eyes to your brain when you view the work. It is seemingly really from another dimension as it is original..provoking...disturbing...awesome. Antisemitic? Dont be greedy! Man...it was getting rough on Netflix what with the season of "to the lake" (no caps) being dropped...just when ya thought "what the hell.........?" comes "Bly Manor". You know its good when the light of day changes and you JUST realize you're on episode 5. Episode 5, which will serve as a great example for the superior writing and plot development in what is a clever, haunting story. The "dejavue" and "double think" that the housekeeper finds herself mired in, while the children evolve into something evil, and the house itself starts to bust from all the wickedness its holding. This is more like it !

Extremely Awkward

I am currently trying to suffer through the "movie" on Prime...but man...I keep expecting the funky bass music to start, and the naked pizza man to show up like a porn flick. It's EXTREMELY awkward...everyone is very stiff...camera shots include the subjects walking in odd circles around whoever is filming. Really bad. Im waiting to see the evidence...it could change everything...but so far the beginning when Sergio recruits the team in a diner...the interview with the first client...it looks the way Mr. Rogers was filmed...bad lighting...awkward movement...dialect in obviously memorized lines. I'll be back to change things if the evidence is good....but man. This is just weird.

Oh boy. Youve seen THIS before. I may be biased though because I like Mark Wahlberg. Boston this Boston that...typical big city you can only love if you have enough money to move out of the gutter.....oh...the MOVIE. Besides Mark...theres a scene where hes chasing a car on foot and runs into a dog. Very funny. Id watch the movie again to see that scene. This movie is ok. Incidents happen with too much convenience...clues laying around like trash in Boston...criminals happen to cross paths with good guys...what am I saying? Theres no intrigue...the plot is BEYOND predictable...if crimes were solved this easily everyone could just stay home and things would fix themselves. Worth a one time watch.

Just a really...really...REALLY bad film. If you watch this though there are some memorable lines that are supposed to be dramatic..but are laugh out loud funny. Probably cost 1.99 to make...."it was an accident Billy" "you shot him in the heart Ned". Hahahaaaaaa. Billy and Ned. Frank and Ted. Camaros and prostitutes. WANTED...DEAD OR ALIVE...THE PLOT FOR THIS cough...MOVIE.

From the death of one individual to the startling tremendous juggernaut that big pharma has become...theres nothing wrong with making a buck, but when you sacrifice lives in this pursuit? Theres a problem.

Changed my view of Ron Howard and the other idiot forever. This show is so awful, so lacking, no drama...nothings funny...what exactly are we watching here ? Is it a show about people trying to dress as soldiers playing in someones back yard? It cant even pass as a show making fun of military shows...its just garbage. Having been in the Army...its beyond painful to watch. A soldier handing over his weapon to a civilian so he may go in his house and trade stolen medical supplies for hash? Opie...youre a genius !!

Every couple is mixed...homosexuals having oral sex in episode 1...whites identified as "privileged". Its an unneeded distraction to see a production begging for acceptance from some unseen direction. Should just stick to the main idea and not worry about anything else but story line and plot development.

Wow....looooooooong...slowwww....painfully droll and drawn out. Way over-explained. You sit there and listen to this guy explain every small detail of what you may or may not see. This is one of the most boring views on today...in fact...if im drowsy and want to finish myself off I play an episode of this...better than Nyquil. I have spent this entire review explaining how dull this is and thats fitting...because YOU will be waiting for something....anything to happen...and it just isnt there.....how do they stay awake in edit and production I cant tell you. A complete waste of time.

Wow...amother promising show for paranormal fans...here it is friday night...and last weeks episode is being shown again....which you can halfway accept....but they are calling it new.....NEW. hate you already......thanks for all the "hard work"...almost as bad as ghost adventures taking old episodes.....adding lame tweets and comments....rebranding it "pulses" and insulting fans everywhere by calling them "new". Losers
