Madam Secretary: Requiem (2018)
Madam Secretary conveniently forgot a historical fact
Madam Secretary is one of my fave shows. While catching up and watching season 5 episode 4, I noticed something that bothered me. Short story is the remains of several Americans who died in WW2 were found using current technology, but the fictitious Philippine government wont release them unless the States gives millions of dollars worth of military support. The Philippine ambassador was called in to see the Secretary of State. Unlike a number of Filipinos, I was never offended when the episode involving the "fictitious" Filipino President came out. This was when the Secretary punched him in the face. Same with this episode. But when she was berating the Philippine Ambassador about the debt my country owed to the US on the 15000 American lives lost defending the Philippines during WW2, they somewhat forgot that during that time, the Philippines was a colony of the United States. Not a territory, as is the politically correct term for areas governed by the US, but a colony. It was the duty of the US to defend our islands as it was technically part of the USA. Though I am grateful for the sacrifice made by many Americans, let us also not forget that one million Filipinos died fighting for the freedom of our land which was under the flag of the United States.
Oh, and that sign in the gym scene "Suntukan parang langit pagsasanay parang impyerno"..(Literally fighting is like heavenbut training is like hell) That's not how we construct our sentences. Please get a better consultant.
