It was time somebody finally took notice of those two great stars. They were the most celebrated stars of their era but now they are scorned as being too camp and sugary. But millions of people around the world were swept off their feet by this terrific duo. Were they all wrong ? I am a fan and have been for over forty years. I was young when they both died but can still enjoy the kind of magic they brought to the screen. I wish their memory would be rehabilitated so that younger generations could discover those magnificent voices.
PBS should show their films more often and on a regular basis. They do it with other stars, why not Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy ? This way they would make new fans and please the old ones too.
