Blue Beetle (2023)
DC (almost) finishes himself off with another generic film.
When you think of a generic and formulaic superhero movie, you're possibly thinking of a C-grade villain without any depth to it, mediocre photography, sub-par visual effects, a predictable CGI-fest third act, horrible one-liners, and laughable acting.
Blue Beetle contains all of the above. While DC is going through a thorough restructuring, Blue Beetle suffers from the former ownership which ignored good stories for maximizing revenue.
Nonetheless, Xolo Maridueña is great as Blue Beetle, and we can't wait for him to show up in future DCU installments.
The movie is a forgettable piece of film that will be good for getting a few laughs, and not caring about the story or fights, or stakes. Blue Beetle is sadly, another movie in the Super-Hero fatigue, which is no more than Bad Story-Fatigue.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Truth (2021)
Political themes are not the problem.
Surely in a world where 3.5 billion people suddenly cambe back from the dead, america's greatest symbol is dead, and millions of people have been outcasted by their countries, there'd be a lot of political issues to discuss, but along the series the MCU has proven they just don't know how to discuss them properly. There's too many problems and not enough discussion of them. All that talk about Sam not having to take up the shield because of the racial issues within it, and he just forgets about it because Marvel wanted a cool 'training montage'. There's a great history of african american people being victims of racism, and the MCU could've done it right, but they just touch the tip of the iceberg and do not want to deal directly with it.
Marvel, you've got to make up your mind. Is this an action series, comedy series or a political issues series? You gotta stick to something if you want us to care about it. Let's hope the finale doesn't dissapoint.
