The Gray Man (2022)
I liked it
I'm a 68 year old woman and I liked this. I am so tired of having Lbgtq alphabet crap and affirmative action political nonsense shoved down my throat these days. This was just plain old-fashioned action. I don't care that the plot wasn't "deep". I don't care that it was "implausible". I don't need to analyze it six ways from Sunday. I don't need to compare it to Bourne or any other movie or any books. It was just fun. It seems that I must ramble on for a few more sentences to be able to post my review. I'm not an orator. I'm just an average TV viewer. I don't subscribe to Netflix because of the usual nonsense they put out.
The Northman (2022)
Hilarious
Should have been filed under comedy. My granddad was Norwegian and I love stories of the Norse people. This was so bad! If I closed my eyes during some of the dialog I would be hearing an Irish brogue. There was no substance to this mess. Lots of howling and when they were dancing around the fire early on I burst out laughing. Only one redeeming quality to it - it didn't force the "liberal world order" down my throat.
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
AWFUL WASTE OF TIME
I couldn't finish it. I got all the way to the 4th episode wishing that I hadn't. I kept hoping that the detectives would add more substance, but instead got a bunch of wacko social media head-cases ranting on about something they know nothing about. When they claim to know more than a medical examiner I had to retreat. This just proves the point that social media can distort, disrupt, and ruin lives. It shows a bunch of them reveling at being at the hotel, in the elevator, and basically being gleeful about it. Sick people! Well, Netflix is pretty liberal, that's for sure. I do enjoy some of the shows, just not the ones Netflix produces. Or maybe Netflix could do a documentary on what it is to be bi-polar. How hard it is to get just the right medication for the right person. It's an awful disease. I know someone with it. It's brutal.
Dirty John (2018)
Terrible acting
I know this story so I was willing to watch the Netflix version. It started out OK, but went downhill fast. Connie Britton was just horrid. She hardly ever raised her voice above a monotone whisper. How many mothers of teen girls do you know like that? Her affect was way off-like when she was smiling at John's sister in the hospital after they pulled the plug. "I want you to meet my daughter (who killed your brother, by the way)" . They made her and her daughters seem like bimbos. They weren't. I've been in a psychologically abusive situation so I understand why Debra was the way she was. But they didn't have to make her seem so utterly stupid. Britton didn't help matters with her portrayal. Maybe I should blame the writers instead.
Botched Up Bodies (2013)
No masks on surgeons?
I noticed right off as well that the surgeons weren't wearing protective masks. And they seemed to be talking while they worked? Personally, if I were to be opened up I would want them to be as "antiseptic" as possible. It's a good show in that it warns people of what could happen with cosmetic surgery. I was horrified at what had happened to some of these people. Some of them needed no cosmetics at all in the first place! So much spent and lost for the sake of vanity. Some needed help, but turned to the wrong place. I may not be perfect, but I am content with the way I am after watching these shows.
