Oprah Winfrey Presents: After Neverland (2019)
Oprah Always Trying to be 1st to Cover Any MJ Scandal
Very disappointed. I expected Oprah to be more fair to the public by giving an unbiased coverage of such a serious matter. She was the first to run to the Jackson family when Michael Jackson passed, and her objective was to shed light on the real Michael that was so unfortunately misunderstood. Now, Oprah has turned a blind eye to Michael's family/friends who have tried to get in contact with her to voice their truth, being that most of the nieces/nephews know the two men from childhood/adolescence at Neverland. Oprah is always trying to be first in covering the most scandalous MJ story. Shame.
Leaving Neverland (2019)
Demonstrates a Breach of Ethical Standards
I can't quite say that this is a documentary and I think IMDb should reconsider their classification of this film. Throughout the film, I was hoping to see alternative views from various speakers, because only then can we (the viewers) step back and see Neverland in a wholesome panorama, rather than being zoomed into a small corner in which 2 people (and their close family members) are forcing us to focus on. While the director, Dan Reed, tries to excuse the one-sided pattern throughout the film, he explains (in black/white text blocks) that he tried, but failed, to get two of Michael Jackson's other young friends to be interviewed. I perceived this as a lack of ethics/responsibilty towards a deceased person, as there were many more people with a close relationship to the late pop-star, including other young friends whom Dan Reed could have contacted to interview. (... Perhaps, Reed excluded these "others" because they all have only good things to say about the late pop-star, and it would not fit in with his agenda/ scandalous screenplay.)
