Echo (2023–2024)

Flop
21 January 2024
Marvel's trajectory in the realm of superhero entertainment has been on a discernible decline, and "Echo" serves as the final nail in the coffin for my interest in their offerings. The show, which attempts to inject vitality into a waning narrative landscape, falls remarkably short of the mark. The utilization of a character like Kingpin, portrayed by Vincent D'Onofrio, is a prime example of this shortfall. Instead of enhancing the show, this move undermines D'Onofrio's previously lauded performances and diminishes the character's legacy.

The overarching narrative of "Echo" is emblematic of the issues plaguing recent Marvel productions. There's a palpable lack of originality and depth, which results in a viewing experience that is both uninspiring and tedious. The show's reliance on established, well-regarded characters to salvage its storyline only highlights its inherent weaknesses. This strategy, rather than adding substance, feels like a desperate attempt to draw in viewers through nostalgia and familiarity.

Furthermore, "Echo" struggles significantly with narrative coherence and character development. These fundamental aspects, which are crucial for engaging storytelling, are noticeably absent, leading to a disjointed and unsatisfactory viewing experience. The show's failure to effectively leverage its source material, combined with a lack of innovative storytelling, exemplifies the creative rut that Marvel seems to be stuck in.

In summary, "Echo" not only fails to live up to the standards set by earlier Marvel productions but also exacerbates the growing sense of disillusionment with their recent endeavors. The show's inability to stand independently, relying instead on the reputation of established characters, is a clear indicator of Marvel's current creative stagnation. For me, this represents a turning point, solidifying my decision to disengage from Marvel's future superhero projects.

Dont Waste your Time
2 August 2023
Evil Dead Rise has left me utterly disappointed and questioning how such a film could have been greenlit. This supposed horror flick not only fails to deliver on its promises but also proves to be an agonizing waste of time for anyone brave enough to endure it.

From the very beginning, the movie's plot struggles to find its footing. It feels like a haphazard attempt to ride on the coattails of the franchise's earlier successes rather than a thoughtful continuation. The storyline lacks any semblance of depth, leaving the audience with a sense of emptiness and confusion. At times, it appears as if the writers were unsure of the direction they wanted to take, resulting in a convoluted mess that left me scratching my head.

The lead actress's performance was nothing short of abysmal. Her portrayal lacked conviction and failed to invoke any sense of empathy or interest in her character's plight. It felt as if she was merely reciting lines without any emotional connection to the role. The lack of chemistry between the lead actress and her supporting cast only worsened the viewing experience, making it increasingly difficult to engage with the characters on screen.

Furthermore, the film's production quality left much to be desired. The special effects were laughably bad, reminiscent of low-budget horror films from the '80s. The gore and scares were forced and predictable, failing to evoke any genuine fear or tension. Even the iconic elements that made the original Evil Dead films memorable were poorly executed in this installment, adding insult to injury for long-time fans of the franchise.

It is genuinely disheartening to witness a once-beloved series fall so far from grace. Evil Dead Rise does a disservice to the legacy of its predecessors, tarnishing the reputation of a beloved horror franchise. As a horror movie enthusiast, I was hoping for an experience that would leave me at the edge of my seat, haunted by the chilling visuals and spine-tingling sounds. Instead, I found myself counting the minutes until the credits rolled, eager to escape the torture.

I strongly advise anyone considering watching Evil Dead Rise to reconsider and spare themselves the agony of this cinematic disaster. The lackluster plot, poor acting, and subpar production quality make this film an utterly forgettable and regrettable experience. Rather than subjecting yourself to this abomination, I recommend revisiting the original Evil Dead films or exploring other horror movies that can genuinely deliver on the genre's promises. Trust me; you'll thank yourself for not wasting your precious time on this garbage.

Honest

Great documentary. The fact that someone has to actually make a movie to explain this is scary. You can put your head in the sand and ignore the facts, but unfortunately facts don't care about your feelings.

I thought this was a comedy

After reading the storyline I thought, this HAS to be a comedy. Ex hit man turned preacher has his daughter kidnapped. The moral dilemma he must face. I am an ex hit man, I must kill these people and rescue my daughter but wait I am now a preacher, what ever shall I do !!! Should I pray for her return ? Should I turn my bible into ninja stars and smite these unholy heathens !!! Unfortunately this is not a comedy, how ever you might get a laugh out of it.

Maybe its a female thing ?

So many people are looking at this movie in the wrong perspective. This has absolutely nothing to do with feminism or patriarchy or any other social issue. This is meant to be a comedy, and its not funny. That is just my opinion. I watched it, well as much as i could, and i just did not find it funny, at all. Not because shes a woman, but because the words that were spoken were. not. funny. Simple.
