What has happened to this show?
3 January 2002
This show used to be a great morning show. It was sometimes for the family. Regis was funny and Kathy Lee was tolerable. Things were going great for many years. It was a very entertaining show in the morning. Sure it had its bad moments and Kathy Lee was annoying but overall it was great. Then in 2000 Kathy Lee left the show of course and was replaced by Kelly Ripa. Since Kelly has entered the show something is wrong. Kelly is really bold with Regis she has no class in my opinion. I think it puts Regis on the spot and it isn't right. I am ashamed to watch this show. I don't know why Kelly was put on here but this new format is not doing too well. Is this some attempt to boost the show's ratings by adding sexual appeal? If that's the case it isn't working. Kelly needs to back off and get some class about her self or maybe she needs to be replaced, because something wrong has happened to this show. Despite this huge setback done to the show, Regis is still the same. He is the whole reason that anyone tunes into the show. I only wish Regis would get a decent co-host. The show's new format is just not working out and needs to be changed.

Family Matters (1989–1998)
Those were the good old days.
8 December 2001
It was a great time in TV. Family Matters had tons of viewers glued to their television sets. This was back in the day when ABC had its good old TGIF line-up. It revolutionized TV for almost a decade. This TV Show usually was just being funny however sometimes it could really teach you a lesson about life. Jaleel White did an amazing job playing a numerous amount of characters such as- Urkel, Stephon Urkelle, Myrtle Urkel, Bruce Lee, Elvis and many more. When the show came to around early to mid 90's it started to get some great imagination. The time machines, transformation chambers, it was just so fun to watch. I noticed that many people here think that around this time the show was at its weak point, I disagree entirely. I think it picked up steam as it moved forward. The early stuff was funny but it was almost mind numbing. It was just too boring to accept. I really like a show to make me laugh and teach values as well. Family Matters successfully began to blend these two aspects as the years went on. In 1997 however it moved over to the CBS network and was eclipsed by ABC's new TGIF line up. Even in this transition over to CBS the show was still bearable up until the Series Finale. Overall I believe that the show had its best years when it started to successfully weave humor and family values into one, and those were in the years after the first season and on.

Star Trek: Voyager (1995–2001)
Covers old ground.
18 August 2001
Star Trek Voyager has turned star trek around into something it shouldn't be. The dialogue for instance is totally off. Everyone speaks too Earth-Like. Using pop references and wanting to get back to Earth, this just punches holes through the series and makes it look one-dimensional. The object of star trek is to explore new worlds; not lets get back to Earth as fast as we can and explore all the stuff we have before. The ending also was flat, totally lacking and very predictable. This is my least favorite series in the group hands down. The characters are also so embarrassing. Whether its Neelix and his fake personality, or Janeway with her so called diplomatic style. All the characters are laughable phonies. Even Seven of Nine is laughable, she is only there to boost the male demographics of the show. Totally paper thin and it makes star trek look bad. Also the jokes are so old, and reused. It just makes the crew look like primitive space wannabes. Check out any other series because what you will find is civilized conversation and less forced, tacky humor. Also did i mention Star Trek Voyager reuses plots from the other series and they have ruined the best alien the Borg! Set Self-Destruct to this show. Thankfully it has ended and is now out of everyone's hair.

Rugrats (1991–2003)
What once was Fresh now is stale.
14 August 2001
Rugrats started out in 1991 as a new cartoon idea for Nickelodeon. This was around the time that Nick's classic shows such as Double Dare, Mr. Wizard, and You Can't Do That on Tv were either ending or already done with. Nick was left with a lot of empty air space around this time. Rugrats started off clunky but it started to climb after 1991. In 1992 it began to get attention from lots of kids and it was starting to become a hit by 1993. However the show vanished after 1993 and wasn't seen again until late 1996. This puzzled a lot of people. I think the reason it was abruptly ended was due to the pursuit of other things to help Nick out, since they didn't have too much in the early 90's. The early era of Rugrats was by far the best. On top of being funny it was targeting all ages as best as it could. It was clever and it was also very interesting to watch. However its return wasn't the best thing in the world. The staff at Rugrats brought it back around late 1996 early 1997, after heavy demand from kids during 1994 and 1995. It still maintained originality and got back into the swing of things. However the makers of Rugrats were not satisfied with the formula of Rugrats. They must have thought we are using the same plan we did since 1991. What the makers didn't know was that the formula was perfect and that the viewers of the show were ok with how it was coming along. Then it started to take uneeded courses of action. Around 1998 the baby Dil was released in the Rugrats movie. This is the turning point of the show. After the first movie it sank. With the returning 1998-99 season from the big movie the episodes were now with Dil. Dil wasn't at first a pest but it only took a couple of weeks before it was noticable that Dil was interfering with the cartoons premise. That premise is four babies on an adventure. It quickly turned into babies babysitting a baby. The adventures weren't the same with Dil in the mix. Then the makers of Rugrats soon realized that this wasn't going to work so they make a second movie. Rugrats in Paris. At this point Chucky gets a new mom and a new sister Kimi. This was basically it. What more could they do. Rugrats had used evrey last idea from front to back. And in July of 2001 the special Series All Growed Up was realesed. It showed how all the kids were doing as teenagers. This special seems like a last ditch effort by the creators. They had made as many characters as possible. Tried to make as many ideas as possible. I feel that this cartoon should and probably will be ended this year. It only makes sense, they showed All Growed up, its now been 10 years, which seems like a good time to end something. Also there aren't any new episodes coming out lately. I believe that Rugrats has ended or will be ending very soon.

My favorite late night show!
6 August 2001
Conan O'Brien has a great thing going for him that I think most people don't notice. His show has imagination and makes you laugh at things you never would expect to laugh at. It explores all possible ideas and doesn't immediately resort to crude humor. This is certainly one of my favorite late night shows. Even though I love this show it has lost some of its punch. Andy's absence was the first thing. Without Andy's spontaneous insights and observations it leaves Conan to do a lot more in the way of trying to make the people laugh. However, he sometimes has trouble doing this and it can reflect in the skits, the monologue and the interviews. Though this isin't a glaring problem, it has shown to be true in some cases. Another problem is the shows guests have been rather unimpressive lately. No one on that show lately would be immediately noticeable or all that interesting to listen to. Conan is resourceful however able to be very funny even when he has nothing to work with, and has produced some pretty funny stuff. All and all I still love his show and it is always funny and creative.

A turn around
6 August 2001
Well a few months ago I wrote a slam comment on this show, because it wasn't really doing to well. However, just a few weeks ago this show got a much needed restoration. It appears that the set was totally changed, and it looks awesome! However we all know looks aren't everything and that the comedy value and the guests needed work as well. Well they have been revitalized and the show has a made a complete turn around. I am happy to see that the Tonight Show is alive and kicking again. I think the reason they made so many changes is because a few months ago the shows ratings were sagging and they needed to address their weaknesses. Well done, now I am actually pleased to say that this show isin't that bad.

Step by Step (1991–1998)
The Driving Force
6 August 2001
This show has nothing that would interest anyone. It's just sitting there with nothing to make the audience laugh or be impressed by. I think this show was certainly out of place in the frame of time. Such shows as Family Matters, Full House, Roseanne, Fresh Prince these shows would probably get better ratings and would be watched more than say Step by Step. There is a driving force in each of those shows i mentioned. Family Matters has Erkel, Full House has Michelle, Roseanne has well Roseanne, and the Fresh Prince has Will. But step by step has who? Cody? He alone cannot push a show like this along. The other characters are lifeless and Cody just pops in and holds it together without people staring at the screen in complete boredom. Honestly can anyone say they are impressed by the other characters on the show? I don't think so. Thankfully this show has been over for 3 years now and was a complete mess in the last season or so. That is the problem with shows today there is no driving force behind them that can keep the audience fully involved. That is why many shows last a season or so and are booted off the air. Look at the shows from the past and future and try to find the core reason why they survived, there is always a driving force to them all.

State of Grace (2001–2004)
State of Disgrace
2 July 2001
This show is terrible. I'll give you a few reasons why I think so. The first one is, it isin't funny at all. I mean they say one joke and it isin't funny then they repeat it over again to try to get another laugh and it is just horrible. Ohh and please the "Cocktail Tires", totally unfunny. Another reason is that it is ripping off a great tv show called the Wonder Years. In Wonder Years a boy is telling his story from the past. Well here we have a girl telling her story from the past, in the same time period, and she does it terribly. Also what is the big attraction to this show? What happens in this show that is so extrodinary? One example is a kid wearing lipstick when she isin't supposed to, who cares? It just has one bad moment after another, hopefully it will get cancelled soon. It seems like there are more reality shows this year, like The Weakest Link, and Fear Factor for example. Then there are other shows like this one that can't find their level with their audience because they are too lazy to take any real creative risks. This show tries to play it safe with its audience, and I realize that this show is a family show, but you can still take risks in a show like this without getting into violence, sex, and drugs. If this show doesn't make some kind of leap it is going to suffer from being boring and after a while no one is going to want to care about a jewish family and some snobbish families two girls hanging out. All I have to say is, I am in a State of Disgrace with this show. Check out Wonder Years, its a great show and actually makes attempts to be funny and creative.

Double Dare 2000 (2000–2001)
Finished for Good
5 April 2001
Well it is now confirmed that Double Dare 2000 is officially been cancelled. The show barely lasted a few months and it had already been pulled. I am unaware to how the show suddenly vanished. The old double dare from the 1980's lasted a good 7 years before it left the airwaves. However no matter what the case it doesn't seem like double dare is coming back. I mean this was like their last chance to bring back double dare, now that it has been pulled i don't think double dare will ever be back. It is a shame too because Nickelodeon needs all the good shows they can get. I used to enjoy all of Nick's former shows. Like Alex Mack, Space Cases, My Brother and Me, and the former Double Dare with Marc Summers. Now with Double Dare gone and these newer Nick shows that are doing meager at best, Nick looks like it could use a good dose of something fresh. As far as Double Dare is concerned, i think the show may have been cancelled due to extremely low ratings, that is my guess. My second guess would be financial problems. My final verdict on the show is, BRING BACK MARC SUMMERS!, he was the best! The most compelling memories came from back then. The show was actually interesting. That also is another problem with the show, used material. It seems like all that the new double dare did was slap a new high tech motto on the stage and if anything they watered down the courses. The host was a complete cornball. However it was manageble. So the rest is up in the air, with Double Dare gone, and rather dull cartoons and shows, Nickelodeon needs to pump the value of their shows up, or they will be licking scum off the bottom of other more popular kid networks.

Lost its Punch
2 March 2001
Jay Leno is an inferior comedy that seems to be struggling. The audience members are laughing less, and seem to give Jay a meager applause. The skits they do are either mildly funny or totally stupid. Besides Jay Leno's comedy coming up short, his interviewing skills are equally as bad. A perfect scenario is when he has a model on the show. Half way between the interview he just stops talking because he has no material at all to say. Then to cover for it he asks stupid questions or he just sputters like an idiot, or he may cut the guests time off because of his bad interviewing skills. This show is no where near the quality of O'Brien or Letterman. It is a shame because David Letterman and Conan O'Brien don't get the credit they deserve. Just because they are on stations or times that don't fit with evreyone else people settle for Jay Leno. Johnny Carson's show lasted from 1962-1992, 30 whole years. Leno's show is definatly not gonna last nearly that long. Five to six more years and that is gonna be it for Jay. I prefer to watch Conan after I watch David, and it works out great. Even if I need to stay up later I don't care. They always save the best for last anyways. Do your self a favor and catch Conan's or David's show. You will be in for a treat.

Space Cases (1996–1997)
A lot more could have been here.
28 November 2000
Space Cases was an ok show. My sister and I used to watch it in Arizona when we had absolutley nothing to do, which was most of the time. I was just a little kid at the time I was only 10 or 9 so I didn't really know about the flaws the show had etc. In 1996 i moved to Las Vegas and I watched the shows and then when they got cancelled I never really watched the re-runs. Well the point I am trying to make is that the show "Falls Short" It only lasted a year and I am not surprised. One thing is the actors. The actors are very dismal and they either overact their parts or they don't do a good enough job. Number two was the plots. The plots of this show were just ripped from shows like Star Trek. I could remember when i was in the car with my family i found myself singing the song. It was a cool show then and now it seems bad. Catalina was probably the worst actress along with Thelma. Catalina was removed thankfully during a space accident in one episode. I think her name was Jewel Staite, you may have seen her in Flash Forward. She is a very bad actress. Not to mention all the other characters seem to push the plot along and they do a bad job at it. This show was pretty cool when i was 10. But now at 14 and I look back it wasn't that great. One of the weaker shows on Nickelodeon.

My Brother and Me (1994–1995)
A few laughs here and there.
28 November 2000
My Brother and Me is one of those shows that gives you a fast laugh here and there, and it does. This show has no real plot, or characters, and it is sort of like a cheap family show. However it is pretty funny at times. The funniest time was when "Goo" hit his head on the desk, and it made such a loud noise. Another funny instance is when Alfie got hit by a door in the face. There are flaws I have noticed though. One is when they try to put melodramatic scenes in the show, they usually wind up being extremely stupid or tired and expressed values which are always expressed in every other family show out there like Full House for example. Another problem i had with the show was with the some of the characters. Deon for example is a poor character, same goes for Melanie. These characters try to be funny and they are minimal when it comes to their comedy. Dee-Dee and his friends are probably the funniest. Alfie and Goo are usually funny but sometimes they act stupid. The dad of the show is funny with his stories, but unfortunately due to the lack of plots every episode with the dad seemed the same because it would always revolve around him telling his stories. The mom was hardly funny at all. Ms Pigney was a forced character all she talked about was money, and she did it all the time, and she was rude which didn't do much for the show. Parts of this show are dampened by either bad acting jobs, or by predictable plots. In some episodes there are no plots period. Due to these problems the show only lasted a season in 1994, and dashed a few laughs on you here and there. The show is not on any more so i can't really tell you to watch it, but if you ever see it just stop to get a few laughs.

Growing Pains (1985–1992)
Decent
28 November 2000
Growing Pains was an average show for me. The show was not really ever my favorite, but just a show to waste time. I felt it was tedious at times. Sometimes I would be watching it and I would get discouraged about half way through. Ben was funny when he was little but when he grew up he acted like a total dweb!! Carol was funny usually, although there were times I thought she was unbearable. Mike stayed consistent throughout the entire series. He was my favorite character. Alan Thicke was a fairly good actor. Joanna Kerns was a bit overboard in her acting. However this show made some magic, it was a base for Leonardo DiCaprio's career. Heather Graham was in this show too, and in an interview with Conan O' Brien she discussed her times on that show. So other than this it comes down to being decent. 1985-1992 is a tad short for comedies of this nature. The comedy could of pulled off a couple more seasons, if the show could hold some interest. I think the reason why Growing Pains went off the air in 1992 was because other shows like Full House, and Family Matters were starting to get their peak ratings. I feel that Growing Pains is weaker compared to Full House and Family Matters because these shows diversify situations a little better. Maybe if Growing Pains opened some new grounds it may have been a tad more successful.

Full House (1987–1995)
FULL of laughs, FULL of fun, its FULL HOUSE!!
6 November 2000
Full House was a great family comedy which entertained audiences during its 8 year run.It had a lot of quality family values as well. I personally felt the actors were great. I had a softspot for Michelle with those little phrases she said like:"You got it Dude" or "Awww! Nuts" Danny, Joey and Jesse were funny too. Stephanie and DJ were good. Although i felt they were the weaker of the characters on the show, still not that bad. Some of my favorite episodes were the ones where Danny tries to be hip and cool for DJ at her fundraiser, or the one the Telethon in 1990 where they raised 1 million bucks, and the one when Jesse is at the children's museum and Michelle breaks the exhibit. I loved all the episodes, the show was canceled in 1995, after being on the air since 1987. The final episode is a 2 part episode where Michelle has a horse racing accident, and is temporarily having amnesia, this problem brought the family closer than ever before. If I recall some of the final lines were, MICHELLE:How out of it was I? JESSE:Well you were pretty out of it, but we stuck with it and we got through. JOEY:Just like we always do DANNY:Just like we always will., Then I believe they had a big finish. I haven't seen the episode which was called "Michelle Rides Again" since late 1996 so i hope to see it soon. The show really is a truly fun, good- hearted comedy, with an entertaining cast. See it and enjoy it!
