A great documentary which may FINALLY show Chaney in the proper context!

This was a great documentary with excellent interviews and clips; could have done without Branagh though. This docu seems to finally remove the taboo labeling of horror star from Lon; showing the casual viewer that he made many, many , many more films that merely Phantom & Hunchback; and that a horror star he WAS NOT. Can't wait for it to come out on DVD. A

This is what those chapter serials at Republic were all about. There's adventure, action, color, humor and heroics. If you never read a comic book and think they're "barmy" then don't bother renting it; this film is a Sunday comic strip come to life.

I just got the DVD and it is still good despite no cracks or muffling. Creighton is so sympathetic, gentle and real; I thought my wife would laugh but she loved it too. Evelyn Ankers (what a babe) Claude Rains in a great, stoic performance and more importantly the first film to introduce us to the heartwarming Larry Talbot.

Frankenstein (1931)

A classic, the first real Monster!!! Karloff, the uncanny!

The 1931 film is still as powerful, brooding, wonderfully shot and classically rendered. Jack's make up is superb, Karloff is "staggering" (literally) and the rest of the cast are the support needed to make this film the monster it truly is. Sit back, relax, clear your mind and enjoy horror in its infancy as it was meant to be in the golden age of filmmaking....
