Marvel Super Hero Adventures: Frost Fight! (2015)
Best Christmas Special Ever
MCU humor and goofy holiday fun with awesome Mrs. Claus and no pesky religion. Reclaims Santa for Norse mythology by insisting that he's really Jólnir, though he makes even cynic Tony Stark believe -- in Marvel logic, Santa is part Frost Giant, part Alfheim elf, plus Santa can control space-time, which is how he can deliver gifts to what JARVIS estimates must be over 5,000 households per second. Loki is a delightfully charming villain even if his heart doesn't grow three sizes that day, and the whole film would be worth watching just for the scene of Thor pulling Santa's sleigh along with the reindeer.
Batwoman (2019)
Take It For What It Is
Sure, this show has flaws and is taking longer to find its tone than Supergirl or The Flash did, but most of the things I don't like about it are exactly the same things I don't like about all the Batmans since Adam West (too much darkness, too little humor, extremely stylized villains who never seem like relatable human beings). I'll admit that Alice's story interests me more than Kate's right now, but that's been true of Catwoman in every Batman I've seen as well. I think Ruby needs better scripts so she can show more range, and I think the CW should not make every single superhero show a domestic drama; I'm perfectly willing to give it a season to get it together.
The Red Sea Diving Resort (2019)
White Savior problems but for the most part based on facts
The historical timeline is compressed -- sometimes a mess; they play a song not yet recorded during the year the scene is set -- and the main characters of color, while brave, aren't shown as involved in much of the decision-making, while the Sudanese leaders are largely shown as monsters. But the reviews here pretending that the rescue of Ethiopian Jews didn't happen or was done only for propaganda clearly know nothing about the facts, and I don't know how anyone got the impression that the Reagan intelligence operatives are portrayed as heroes; a couple of guys do the right thing under duress, but they sure aren't shown as admirable. There are some funny moments, some snarky moments, some horrifying moments; Evans is, as usual, mostly too good to be true (and completely naked though from the side, and mmmmm that '70s chest hair)!
Sharknado 5: Global Swarming (2017)
The plastic surgery is hideous but the women rock
I just want to point out that, as bad as the dialogue can be and as ridiculous as the liposuction, Botox, and skin stretching on many of the actresses appears, all of the Sharknado films pass the Bechdel Test and most have more substantive roles for women than the Avengers franchise. This one has Nichelle Nichols running NATO and Olivia Newton-John as a bionic scientist.
