Star Trek: Voyager (1995–2001)
It's over
24 May 2001
Warning: Spoilers
Voyager is over, at least for now. We all know that no one really dies, or in this case ends, in the Star Trek universe. It has been a fun 7 years. Voyager as been an oasis in a wasteland of television. It has provided the watcher adventure, romance, comedy, drama and social awareness. There have been a few disappointing episodes, but that is true with almost every show. On the whole, I think that Voyager has lived up to the Star Trek name and furthered Mr. Roddenberry's dreams. I'll miss Voyager and her crew. But I would like to thank the "powers that be" for a happy ending.

Doctor Who (1996 TV Movie)
What's the Problem? (this might be a spoiler)
8 June 2000
Warning: Spoilers
Why is there controversy over The Doctor kissing his companion, his revelation that he is one half terran, and the car chases?

First the kiss. The Doctor had just regained his memory. That is a very emotional moment. Anyone might kiss the person next to them. The kiss probably didn't have anything romantic to it. And even if the kiss was romantic, so what? It has been said that The Doctor is asexual. Why would someone think that? Gallifraians marry. Leela married one. Also, The Doctor was Susan's Grandfather. That wasn't just a title Susan used or else why didn't Vicki or Zoe or Ace use it. Their Doctor's were all older. No, Susan was The Doctor's Granddaughter. And in order to have a granddaughter, you must have a son or daughter. Grace would certainly be someone The Doctor could like. She is a woman of science, is a lover of the arts and is interested in the betterment humankind. And besides all that, she is very attractive.

Second, the revelation that The Doctor is half terran. Makes sense to me. They have always been his favorite. When the Time Lords grounded him, where did he ground him? Earth. I would think it was his mother who was terran, probably English.

Finally, the car chases. It took place in San Francisco. They have cars there. If it had taken place in New York, subways would have been used. If it had taken place in Chicago, the trains would have been used. In San Francisco, cars are the norm. Ergo, the car chases.

I have been a fan of The Doctor as long as I can remember and throughly enjoyed this movie. The only problem is when I taped it off of TV, I missed the last 15 minutes. I can only assume The Doctor saved the world, yet again.

Should have been on Lifetime
22 May 2000
Let me set the matter straight, I liked the movie. The acting could not have been better. Each character was fully developed and a joy to watch. The story was sweet. However, the movie should have been on Lifetime and not in the theater at $8.00 a ticket. Where the Heart Is should be seen, but rent it.

I liked it
8 May 2000
Like I said, I liked it. You could tell that they put a lot of thought into the realism of the movie, at least as much realism there is in a sci-fi flick. NASA was consulted as to how the international space station would be set up and what we might expect on Mars. And instead of confusing the viewer, as in the case of Space Odyssey, this movie tried to answer some age old questions. The performances were great. The characters were real and human. However, they were reading the wrong book. Basically, it was a fun movie.
