Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)
"Anyone expecting something special is gonna have a real bad day get it!."
The first TERMINATOR remains my favorite film ever. The second is right up there. So as far as film going goes these films mean a lot to me. Is it just me or are big films getting worse by the month. Even with hints of decent stories pictures are so rushed now. Special effects, BOOM, special effects, JUMP CUT, F/X GALLORE, BOOM...THE END.
I miss the days of the eighties action flicks. Even the early nineties hung in there a bit with TOTAL RECALL, TERMINATOR 2 (despite its morality) and NATURAL BORN KILLERS. My point is these films the good ones, the intense action ones...the fun ones all stuck with violence. Shying away from violence teaches us guns and explosions lack consequence. Not to mention it's all fantasy. We're being taught not to have imagination.
The evolution of film ceases to exist. Technology needs to complement not substitute a story (a la MATRIX RE-LOADED and Terminator 3). Hopefully M. Night or Peter Jackson, or some kid at home writing a great story will inspire us.
